Will the under .500 record deny Alpi his all star bid this season?

the Rockets record is arguably his best case for even making it in the 1st place since the Rockets are still overachieving in the eyes of many even tho this season should be play-in or bust

All the teams in the top 8 will for sure have an all star representative. A few will send 2. And there’s plenty of frontcourt players to fill the spots. Getting down to losing teams outside of even the play in. Ain’t happening

he was never going to get in as a starter anyway

If he doesn't get enough votes he won't make it.

Only way he makes it in is if someone sits out, which is likely, lots of old ass dudes still balling that might skip out on playing and give up their spot. He MIGHT get the nod there.

Can't see him getting in on selection.

It probably will. I think he had a legit chance of entering as a reserve if we were in play-in. Maybe he can still be selected as an injury replacement.

I love Alperen, but for me, he is still a step away.

22-9-5 this year on a 40ish win team.

Next year he is going 25-10-6, with even better defense and a 45+ win team.

He’s been my favorite player since his rookie season, but he’s not good enough to be an all star yet.

I honestly don’t care. If he does make it, GREAT! If he doesn’t (very likely), a borderline all star this year at age 21 is already good enough for me. He’s the franchise player and a keeper. That’s all I need to know.

He was unlikely to make even if the Rockets were a few games over .500.

He is a future MVP. Whether he will be all-star this year or not is secondary.

Hoping he still can be an Allstars. But if he does not, getting that amount of votes is already a positive step forward for him and the Rockets.

The league already is noticing him and he still has a long career ahead of him

I realize there is no perfect statistic to measure a player, but he's 13th in PER and 12th in VORP. It's the players you'd expect (Jokic, Giannis, Embiid, Doncic, Shai ) leading.

I don't know how coaches can ignore that.

Is this the year we're back to East versus West? I'm fine if he doesn't make it as long as Wemby doesn't make it either.

Wemby will probably be the 1st injury replacement, just to piss me off.

I will say, some of the rockets twitter guys do make a compelling case for Sengun. Like there was a stat that only 3 other players had the same min average statline as Sengun in the history of the nba and they all made the all star game in that season.

The issue is classification of “Forwards”. Competing against Kawhi, Durant, Paul George, and Lebron puts you at an immediate disadvantage if you are a big man in that Sabonis, JJJ, Sengun category.

But the record does matter this year for those reserve picks because coaches and the media will want to reward Minnesota for having one of the best records in the nba.

So yeah I do think the Rockets not being a top 4 seed team matters. Being 4 to 8…. I don’t think it matters as much when it’s just a couple games here and there but it matters when the coaches pull someone like KAT before Sengun or Sabonis because their team is so dominant and has no representation.

the disrespect is too much if he doesn't make it this year that he should go back and win 15 straight championships in euroleague
