Since China will be hosting the Olympics in 2008, they don't have to qualify since the host nation gets an automatic bye. Is this true??

i think his team needs to play a tournament next summer for qualification for World Bball Championships in Japan in 2006. I think 2 asian nations will make it, along with japan the host nation,

yao's schedule should look like this:

2005 summer: Asian Championships (qualifiers for 2006 World's)
the top 3 teams and japan will qualify

2006 summer: World Championships (Japan) 24 teams

2007 summer: Asian Championships (qualifiers for 2008 olympics)
china will hav ealready qualified, but will send a team anyawy...which may or may not include yao.

    2008 summer: Olympics (Beijing)
