On ESPN last night there was a show about the NBA draft class of 1986. Most of the players had NBA careers less than 10 years. The cause for some of them being so unsuccesful is drugs. It is very sad because some of them had potential to become NBA stars. The part that stunned me was when they were talking about William Bedford. Bedford, who was drafted by the Pheonix Suns with the six pick, says he is interested in returning to the NBA.
"They say Michael's coming back, Washington would be nice. Charles says he's coming back, too, I hear. Why can't I?"
It would be a long way for the 37-year old Bedford to return. Bedford, who had his NBA career end in 1993 because of cocaine, is currently charged with drug possessions. I hope he learns from his mistakes and makes a comeback. Drugs can really mess up someone's life!

The saddest one was when Chris Washburn said he used to go in the locker room during games and at halftime to smoke drugs.

Is that the worst draft class ever? The best player was picked last!

Makes Buck Johnson look like a great pick that year. Maybe we didn't do so bad.

Sabonis (during his NBA career) has not been as good as Ron Harper. And don't forget Chuck Person and Brad Daugherty, they weren't bad either.

How come Buck Johnson only played seven NBA seasons?

It doesn't look like that bad a class to me. Rodman, Horny, Person, Harper, Curry, Skiles, and Salley played a long time in the league. Price, Daugherty, and John Williams were a major part of a very strong Cleveland club in the early 90s, and the 1st 2 were multiple time all-stars. Sabonis has given the Blazers some good seasons, albeit in the twilight of his career. That's 11 good players, not counting Tarpley, who was very good before he got caught for drugs.

Bingbong was set up, led to an untimely death in the prime of his life for no other reason than pure malice. Things like that do not go unavenged. Sometimes it spills out onto the field of play.
