Ugly road win. Partly our fault. Outcome largely influenced by refs. FT's still a problem. At least we made them when it counted.
Either Xavier is a lot better than their record or UH is not as good as theirs would suggest. That was a rugged, tough game, made a lot more challenging by the refs taking center stage. If you breathed, it was a foul. A lot to clean up for the Coogs.
The latter. But that doesn't mean the rest of the NCAA is any better. That's yet to be determined. The key to this year is to maintain the illusion of being a top 10 team so we can recruit an actual top 10 team with the money.
Xavier's a tough place to play. And, we're young. Even so, without the refs influence, it could have easily been 20. I'll take an ugly, maturation W.These guys will be much better over the second half of the season. As to recruiting....we're golden.
the long scoring droughts are feature of this program under kelvin same with bad free throw % i hope it gets better but it probably wont a shame mark transferred cause that's a guy you could count on to grind out a game like this
I noticed that in the games in Australia he gets his hands on passes and blocks shots. Its been said he has the wingspan of a 7'6 player.
Flew to Cincinnati to watch the game yesterday evening. Bought tickets a couple of months ago on Tickpick. Big mistake, after Xavier lost to Oakland, ticket prices dropped and the day of the game, they dropped a lot more. Live and learn. Sat upper level midcourt, only saw UH fans directly behind our bench. I didn’t see any UH fans around me or in the concourse. Their arena seats a little over 10,000 and their crowd was very loud. Tough place to play, but their fans were very nice. As mentioned, both teams were very sloppy, with way too many fouls, but both teams’ defenses were good. Cryer was clutch and we definitely missed Shead’s leadership when he was on the bench with foul trouble. I did like how we responded when Xavier briefly took the lead in the 2nd half. I’m afraid our free throw shooting might bite us down the road. Overall, it was a lot of fun, and I’ll take an ugly but satisfying win.
Couple of stats about last night's Xavier game. - Xavier went last 8:01 minutes of the game without a field goal - We shot 9 of 10 from FT line in last 4 minutes of the game - Sharp was only 2-12 shooting 1-6 from 3 - Xavier had more rebounds and assists than we did It was an ugly win with questionable reffing throughout. Our first real test of the year. We better get ready for more games like this with the Big 12 schedule coming up after the 1st of the year. Including us, there are 6 teams in the Big 12 that are still undefeated. That does not include Kansas or Horns who both only have one loss.
too high. i'd put them at 5 even though i know Purdue just lost to an unranked team over the weekend.
nah its never too high. they can go to #1 for all i care. The order will never be "correct" but they're definitely one of the top teams in the nation so the number doesn't really matter to me. Purdue is where they belong. below Houston
