Sengun told a fascinating story at about 18:00. Essentially, he said to battle depression about losing, he adopted the team’s laissez faire attitude, basically having fun no matter if the team won or loss. Sounds like a coping mechanism. Now, however, he’s back to caring and can’t have fun when we lose. It’s a really interesting tidbit about how accepting failure impacts a person’s psyche.

Among so many nice things Alperen said about Ime, I liked the most what he said at 38:12
"He brings a lot of things. Like, I can even tell he brings happiness to us".

It is also a damning (if totally unsurprising) indictment of Silas's permissive losing culture.

The most insane thing he said by far when they ask him about Ime was "I like it a lot how he's not going to lie to your face" like bro what?? That is a crazy thing to say about a coach and there's really only one explanation there. Some other gems -

"If you do bad things, he is talking **** to us, you can't do the same mistake next possession. It wasn't like that before"
"On defense and offense we are awake, we know what we are doing, which is great for us, it's more professional"
"He trusts me on a lot of things, it's making me play more with confidence, I'm shooting well now because he's giving me that confidence, coming to me in practice saying 'shoot that shoot that.'"
"The biggest part is talking to us, he's teaching us, in the game he's telling us we are going to do this and going to do that"

Sounds like Silas was basically a really nice guy that couldn't instill any respect or discipline. It really was letting the kids run wild for 2 years

It's great because he didn't even have to mention Silas. He says the best thing about Ime is his professionalism and that he talks to you, and that every single one of our assistants is the same way. Considering he knew very little english I can imagine they just didn't even bother trying to talk to him, and it certainly makes it very easy to isolate and scapegoat the guy that doesn't know what you're saying.

Silas and Horny held him back with learning English.....he still could not talk that well in Year 2.
