It was career malpractice for all these young players to be coached by Sil@ss and his awful staff. I still believe under different circumstances they could have panned out.
I hate using the term ‘scrub’ since anyone we talk about on this board is probably one of the best 1000 or so basketball players in the world. On the other hand, people here always overrate our young players. So we traded away a few late-first-round picks for nothing? Once a young player is drafted, unless he is a top prospect, he has a very small window to show he is exceptional in some way and worth investing playing time in. Every year, there is a huge new crop of young players to compete with for opportunities. It’s a cruel, competitive system, but there are only so many roster slots, and if you aren’t standing out, you’re out. Tate stood out because he shows exceptional defense, hustle, and energy. Those other guys didn’t do anything exceptionally well. Some people may think Martin or Washington or Garuba are going to explode into stars given the right situation. Maybe so, but there are probably 100 other fringe NBA players who you could say the same thing about. Criticize Stone for his big moves if you want, but the amount of crying over who should be our 12th man was way over the top.
You're obviously overlooking how much they mean to OUR team. LAST YEAR: 22-60 record = .268 winning percentage THIS YEAR: 8-6 record = 572 winning percentage = on pace for a 47-35 record Just imagine how much better we'd be with those guys! And we traded them for... nothing! Just gave them away!
Late first round picks are like lottery tickets. Once you scratch them off and find out you didn’t win, they are worthless. Just because you paid 5 bucks for it doesn’t mean it retains that value.
KMJ has to be in shock. Last season he was starting and averaging 28mpg. Next year he’s a free agent but he’s getting DNP regularly.
KMsr. Must be ecstatic his son is on a contending team. I think it’s completely hilarious it back fired in a fashion he never thought would happen.
Garuba would be useful for us now with the way Landale is playing. Until Landale gets back into form we coulda used him. Everyone else I was totally fine losing.
Y? If you actually watched the games KMJ was terrible at everything except dunking. If you only watched highlights you would think he's the best player in the world.
You blame Silas way too much. If they were that good Stone wouldn't have spent second-round picks to get rid of TyTy and Usman. The Rockets prioritized high draft picks, cap space flexibility, and KPJ's development over putting a competitive team on the floor. With Udoka coaching last year's team you may have gotten 5 more wins - max. Having veterans like FVV, Brooks and Green has been vital to the team's success and keeping the younger guys composed enough to close out games.
I dont blame silas enough. You're a silas apologist. I hate that for you. Silas should get slander until the end of time. Freaking Sengun and Jalen Green playing defense so soon after his departure is enough to NEVER give silas the benefit of the doubt ever. I dont give a damn what Stone was doing. Silas wasn't coaching for s#!t. Even KPJ's mandated development was peak ass. Can you imagine Silas coaching Unc and Dillion? coaching them to do what? Defense? what do you think FVV and Green would be doing in his offense? LOOOOOL. FVV threw one lob the whole season. FVV would be on the bench because Silas wants that lob threat. be for real.
Oh damn, I thought this whole time he was picked up on the Celtics coaching staff. Shoot. The Pistons are the absolute WORST! I actually feel kinda bad for the guy. He just can't seem to find success.
