This team is so young from top to bottom. Going to take some time to "get it right."

big thing I notice, and I’ve been looking for the same thing every time. We are usually in the same region as Niners/Dolphins/Jets.. I know they have better playmakers, but goodness, if Purdy and Tua can throw that much and have that much success, why are being different.

and none of this “we are a run first team” BS. The team you left still throws way more often than you and they have an other-worldly RB compared to you. It seems like we are not only forcing it to fit our announced scheme, but we aren’t even built for it yet so we are just doing it to do it.

make some damn adjustments, see how throwing the ball is how you won games, and stop ****ing around. No one cares that you want an “identity” just don’t pick something we’re bad at to be the identity.

also, we had the same sh*t with BOB running on every single 1st and 2nd down. Can we please be different for once?

Would it surprise you if I told you the Texans were actually one of the 'older' teams in the NFL by average age of the roster?

My guess is that so much running thus far is a little less to do with "identity" as a run-first team as we might think, and maybe a little more of a plan aimed at keeping CJ upright (especially the first few games with the patchwork o-line).

This helps him build confidence and slowly acclimate. Yes it might cost us a couple of games but this is year one for everyone and there were very little expectations coming into the year.

Yes it would, but I was referring to the skill players and coaches primarily

Not surprised, but tons of young starters and vets (old guys) on short contracts. I have liked their approach with Casserio. He is building a really solid core of young players and managing the cap space well. He has hit on a few vets like Cashman and Ward and has structured his cap to have lots of money as these young guys mature. The Texans are relevant again and the future is bright.

And the terrible run plays on first down put them into obvious throwing plays. They are better at passing despite the fact that they are always 2nd or 3rd and long.

We rank 30th in ave age, so most teams are younger than us.

After watching film, I think ONE of the reasons why the #Texans are only converting 36.1% of their 3rd downs from Week 5 to Week 8 is because teams have realized that Stroud & Bobby Slowik love the middle of the field.

Stroud thru Week 1-4 completed 68.8% of his throws over the middle and was 3rd in attempts per NGS

So now teams are running robber 1, cover 2 and quarters on 3rd downs trying to clog the middle.

No he doesn't, if anything he should be criticized for the delay of game penalty. That also could've been on Stroud. The Texans dont have the weapons the Dolphins/49ers/Packers have. They're having to make do this yr. They need to add a WR/RB/TE in next years draft.

    Exactly

These are the growing pains of a rookie HC,OC,QB and young players at the skill positions. They need to find their Waddle/Hill/Mostert or McCaffery/Kittle/Deebo/Aiyuk.

I do beilieve if they could get a true WR! that Collins/Tank would look a lot better. Still need a RB that fits the scheme badly.

Agreed. There have been a lot of very tight window throws the past several games.

100%. Was saying this in the game thread. It's been apparent since Strouds interception.

Average age is a pretty bad statistic. I believe we have the 2nd most rookie starters of any team. Most of our age comes from vets on short contracts.

But still also the Texans are 1st or 2nd on rookie snaps in the league, so the older guys are vets more in the mentor, that are in the bench, just like Case Keenum is 35, and hasnt played a down, Jon Weeks the long snapper, is 37, Jerry Hughes is 35, Cameron the punter is 31, Shaq Mason is 30.

Next year, with some more FA signings, the vets could be released, like Hughes, Perryman, Mason, and some other 3rd and 4th strings that are over 30, the average age could drop.
