[Texas Professional Sports] has Houston beaten Dallas in the playoffs before?

The Rockets beat the Mavs in the first round of the 2015 playoffs.

 

Because I was curious I took a look at Rockets playoff history and the Rockets have only played the Mavs three times in playoffs. The Mavs won in 1988 and 2005 while the Rockets in 2015. That 2005 loss really sticks in Houston history because the Rockets started up 2-0 and then lost in game 7 by 40. I remember Yao looked like he was going to cry in the locker room and Hakeem comforted him.

this is the first time the Stros have played the Rangers in the playoffs.

2004-05: Beat Rockets 4-3 in First Round
2014-15: Lost Rockets 4-1 in First Round

Rangers:
2023: Up 2-0 in ALCS

I would enjoy this more if I didn't think the Rangers are going to post something similar about the Astros.

Texans are such a stupid name, I still can't get over them choosing that name... Should have gone with something better, like the Oilers or something..

 

from wikipedia, says they actually had focus groups and surveys about the organization. must have only interviewed true texans, hence the awesome name. i would've named the team show leopards.

 

That 2005 series was rigged so I refuse to acknowledge it.

holy crap that was such a cool moment. I remember seeing it happen real time the first time and wow.

 

We got robbed that year, yes, I remember watching this live, amazing!

Man, after game 2 the fix was in - Yao got taken out and Van Gundy said as much and refused to give his source up. I love how the NBA just kind of swept the whole thing under the rug, I don't know if Rockets win it all that year but it was only taste of having a truly healthy tmac/yao same time in playoffs. Houston got robbed.
