That's true. Black families were largely intact in the late 1800s and early 1900s. It was after the 1960s that single motherhood exploded.
I didn't watch the debate but just saw that "lowlight". That line from Succession "unserious people" is becoming more and more relevant.
And black families prior to the 1960's also faced many legal economic hurdles including massive redlining preventing them from moving and working whereever they wanted.
