'least he has chicken Far too many former UH coaches literally never coach football again after we fire them
I'd bring in Willie Gaston from Northshore. He's a young coach, went to UH and knows the players and coaches in the area. Either way Dana has to go
What are we thinkin’? 2-10? (2 being IF they beat San Houston next week) Winless in the B12? And they inexplicably bring Dana back for another year? Spoiler vs UTSA W 17-14 @ Rice L 43-41 2OT vs TCU L 36-13 vs Sam Houston @ Texas Tech vs West Virginia vs Texas @ Kansas State @ Baylor vs Cincinnati vs Oklahoma State @ UCF
Holgorsen said that he thinks Matthew Golden has been “pressing” to make plays after having 4 drops today. “It’s not the play calls… we’re just not executing.” Dana Holgorsen on the offense’s failure to convert on 4th down. Dana Holgorsen called the offense’s second half “embarrassing.” Was “proud of how the defense came today” “The offense just couldn’t do anything.” Head coach Dana Holgorsen after the game. Houston coach Dana Holgorsen: "Not acceptable. Bad offense. Thought we took a step in the right direction last week." Dana Holgorsen: "Thought defense played tail off." Houston coach Dana Holgorsen: "Thought we had a good plan coming in. We're not executing." Dana Holgorsen: "Just embarrassing offense." Holgorsen said: "We're going to be aggressive on fourth down. We're just not executing." Houston coach Dana Holgorsen won't rule out a shakeup on offense. "Let me look at the film," he says. Dana Holgorsen on Matthew Golden drops early in the season: "I think he's pressing. Matt's a great player, we all know that." Houston Cougars head coach Dana Holgorsen on the running game struggles: “It didn’t look very good. We will have to go back on the drawing board and figure out why.” Houston Cougars head coach Dana Holgorsen on the offense: “It’s not the play calls. I know no one wants to hear it … for the depth & the recruiting, it is going to take some time.” When asked if changes could be made to the offense personnel, Holgorsen said he is not ruling it out.
We have 1 P5 win since Dana has been the coach. D. Smith is the most timid 250lb guy I have ever seen runnig the ball, and he has no touch on his passes everything is a missle no wonder our WR's are dropping so many passes. He has 3 picks and he's lucky he doesn't have 7 with some of the poor decisions he's made and just got lucky. We have played 1 good quarter and 11 bad ones on offense. The offense sucks Dana and its all on you.
The question is will we fire a coach who goes 4-8? And I don't see how we get that many wins this year. Serious question: Is there any way we can petition to the NCAA to have our football program moved back to the American until we can hire a decent coach and find a way to get our program back on track to a position of relevance again? Our basketball team is well coached and ready for the move to the Big 12. Our football program is not. The sooner we can get rid of the red bull chugging lunatic sorry excuse for a head coach the sooner we can fix what he has screwed up.
This group isn't ready to be P5. They can be, of course, but this particular group won't be this season. They aren't good enough in any area right now. You're probably looking at a 2-3 win team here.
Tillman and Dana are friends. Also: Holgorsen said this to The Athletic : “We won 20 games in two years,” Holgorsen said. “We won bowl games in back-to-back years. I have five years on my contract with a f—ing impossible buyout. … So there ain’t no f—ing hot seat in my mind. There just ain’t.”
