Thanks for posting this. Anyone that thinks Urquidy should be our #4 starter in the playoffs doesn't understand how ERA works.
Trust or not, Framber and JV are going to be 1 and 2 in either order. I personally like Framber #2 because of righties behind him and more likely opportunity to clinch in game 6 than game 5 ( ALCS and WS). I am OK with them but they are about 25% likely to give up more runs than is comfortable. Picking 2 from the other 3 is still up in the air. Javier and Brown have the stuff you would like to see in a playoff roster but France has the fortitude and has been better. Dusty needs to limit Javier and Brown to 5 innings / 80 pitches ( last night was perfect) the rest of the season. Javier has actually been good early in a couple of starts recently so that could be a good sign - but has clearly been the 5th best too. If the playoffs started today, I would use France #3 and a Javier/Brown piggyback for game#4. If Brown and Javier can manage to pitch 4+ effective innings limiting runs (I don't expect more than 4 in the playoffs regardless) the next few starts then they move up into those spots and France is ready to go in the 1st-5th innings of any game. I can't explain it but it's also worth noting that the Astros absolutely mash when Javier starts. Maybe that continues so Javier starts and Brown/France relieve if they are scheduled to piggyback.
Is 6 weeks a little slump? His stats are well below a few others the past 6 weeks. I have more faith in Diaz and Brantley at the plate.
My playoff rotation is: Verlander Valdez Frances Hunter Long relief if a starter gets in trouble, then it’s either of the following coming into the game: Javier Urquidy
At the moment I agree with these 4 However I piggyback Javier w/Brown and completely leave Urquidy off the playoff roster- he has been completely unreliable.
Like it or not the rotation will be, Verlander Framber Javier Urquidy Hunter and France coming out of the pen.
ALDS pitching roster JV, Framber, Brown, France Pressly, Neris, Abreu, Montero, Graveman, Stanek, Maton, Javier. 12 pitchers. Yes I think Stanek comes back. He's already throwing.
Trying to figure out this statement. Last 5 starts 23 2/3 IP 18 ER Last 13 starts 60 2/3 IP 49 ER That's a pitcher on any other contending team that would no longer be in the rotation, like 3 or 4 starts ago.
1 framber 2 JV 3 France deserves it , but I would do something crazy and open with stanek and then go to France 4 Javier In reality tho , unless Dusty is forced he will go Javier game 3 because of experience
