It's embarrassing that we are going this route. I understand the thought process, but considering KPJ has zero value, that means we would have to attach a really good pick to get someone worthwhile back. What team is looking to shed salary at the beginning of the year though? Usually teams are evaluating their talent through December/January and only then do some players become available. So the likely scenario is that these fools will force some stupid underwhelming trade that's just going to piss off all of us. It's too bad that they have all these corporate sponsors and corporate season ticket holders, so we just aren't loud of enough to cause anything. ****ing embarrassing.
If Tillman is this desperate to dump salary now, prepare for every young Rocket to walk the moment they hit RFA.
Different situation and Primo was making much less. Rockets are trying to win, Spurs were not. They are trying to win now but at the time the Spurs let Primo go, they were not trying to win.
Only 4 pages into this thread so this has probably been explained by now, but NO TEAM is going to keep Porter as an active player on their roster. No team is going to pay Porter more than the minimum he’s eligible to receive. The rockets are simply doing their due diligence like the other 29 teams would. This is merely a contractual situation. this is the scenario: you can dump a bag in the trash can and get nothing in return, or you can see if you can dump your bag in someone else’s trash can in exchange for $5
It makes no difference whatsoever. Whether the rockets officially cut him or the Thunder cut him, everyone agrees that he won’t play another minute in the NBA. Why should the rockets shoot themselves in the foot if they can get something if value in exchange for his contract…not the player himself…the contract
They’re getting rid of his services regardless. It’s still a business and if you can somehow improve or save money while getting rid of him, you do it. Wherever he’s traded, he’s going to be released .
We get that. It's the draft pick that we may potentially give up that's the issue. If any deal goes through, it is likely to be some trash deal. Usually teams are not looking to give away players this early on. No one is tanking just yet. The Rockers just need to cut his ass. Get rid of him
Don’t overlook the part about potentially sending out draft capital along with KPJ as part of the trade, maybe even a 1st rounder. If that happens it’s just more asset mismanagement on Stone’s part which is becoming the norm for him.
I can only speak for myself, I'm not mad that they are trying to move him; but that they waited until there was a blow up and now he is too toxic. What team in their right mind will take him? VanVleet was brought in at $43M and the team drafted Amen. Amen lacks a jump shot so you almost have to play him at PG. Team is stacked with SF's: Dillon, Tate, Jabari, Tari, Cam Whitmore. Stone has to act like Ainge or Morey and win every deal. Gave JC, Garuba, TyTy for nothing but had to hit a home run on a KPj deal earlier? I said Orlando was perfect for everyone approximately a month ago. I doubt they take him now. And I want those draft picks for acquiring a vet talent......not for dumping a bloke we have to rid ourselves of like we had to do with CP3 and others. Everyone that talks about team rebuild talks about accumulating first round picks to trade to improve the team for star talent or productive vets that can be in our 9-man rotation. Instead our GM dumps them into the landfill: TyTy (first rounder).....dumped for nothing Garuba (first rounder).....dumped for nothing Josh Christopher (first rounder)....dumped for nothing Kenyon Martin (second rounder)....dumped for 2 second rounders. worthy of a mid to late first at least. Now KPj, we were told the Rockets had to spend big money on FVv and Dillon Brooks to get over the minimal threshold.....waiving KPj stays on the books but you lose flexibility. Forced to take back Gordon Hayward or Fournier? Fultz would have been better
Couldn't even wait for the PR answer of 'let the legal process play out' before looking at the bottom line. Fertitta's still probably pissed he had to eat Wall's contract.
LOLOLOLOLOL Do you people actually think this degenerate sh!tbag could be traded for, literally, anything? He will never play in the NBA again. He will do time. Boom. Done. Over. Move on.
At this point the most value the rockets can get is by doing something that shows this club has principles, direction, values. And you can’t do it by a trade.
