Has he truly been excellent at drafting or has he really just benefited by landing in the high lottery?
I love how only about a decade back the NBA had as harsh sentencing for weed as domestic assault. What a country
The Sengun trade was a stroke of genius. All his other picks were pretty much consensus but at least he didn't **** them up... there's been GM's that have done so much worse.
Yep, but drafting was not him. It was a group of people spearheaeded by Eli Witus. Stone just was the head of it all. And he would not be fired bc of the draft, but of his failure to set up a safe culture/environment. He was also a douche to Silas and an arrogant prick( but that is just me)
Come on, he is in charge, we can't pick and choose when to credit and when to criticize. He is the GM, in charge of the draft the draft has been excellent, therefore he has been GREAT at the draft. Now we can criticize other stuff...but not his draft. DD
Yeah, we can, because Witus would be the next in line if Stone was canned. Simple. We know what we have with Witus. I am sure there are organizations who would fire someone based on poor drafting but I never thought the Rockets would be one.
Eli Witus has been the Smartest Guy in the Room. I do not know why Eli wasn't promoted instead of Stone. Maybe Eli is too shy about the GM Position, alot of Media and Fan Pressure for Sure. Job Security to stay as Assistant GM.
I live in seattle . I remember meeting a nice lady at a medical office when rockets got KPJ. I was pretty happy and talking to my son . The lady told me her son grew up with KPJ and they were in the same teams from kindergarten on. They used to car pool to all the games together , AAU, select , school etc . She said that Kevin will never make it in MB A. She said the problem with LPJ is that his mother has screwed him up and all parents of all other kids knew this . She also said that his high school coach who had made a career of rehabbing trouble players and had several of them succeed in NBA , told them that Kevin is the only player he had given up on and he had no hope for . At the time , I hoped she was wrong , I actually liked his game and his built and was pulling for him. But this is the end for me
He would been much "less excellent at drafting" if he had done other things better resulting in lower draft picks. This is obvious. This is when the things he was apparently bad at should actually start being judged this season. You know when they are not trying to lose any longer.
