Oh, the message isn’t to Chas. It is to the media, the fans and (most likely) the front office for continuing to question the HOFer about “his team.”
Well, we can't complain about the back end of the lineup being a black hole. Yordan isn't going to play in LF this series. Dubon has been getting hits the past month. I'll take him batting 9th over Meyers. At lot of us wanted Peña in the 2 spot to start the season because for whatever reason it just worked. Let's hope it works again.
Ok, so they crapped the bed vs the Yankmees. That sucks on so many levels, but it's in the past. After the sweep in Boston and winning 5 in a row, it was all happiness and confidence. The bedshitting vs Seattle was forgotten. I am hoping and expecting that same feeling on the off day Thursday. A sweep would be great, but 2 of 3 will be enough as long as the Reds get at least 1 and hopefully more Come on Reds, do your part.
I still think that Bregman needs to hit #2 every day regardless, but at least Dusty didn't put Dubon there. Pena has been hitting well and w/ a Lefty on the mound, its fine. I still think Meyers should always start vs lefthanders, but Dubon is only a small step back. It could be worse. Dusty could have used the "Diaz can't hit lefties" to start Maldy, and could have continued the F- U to Chas. Dusty is going to Dusty until after the D'Backs series so hopefully the lineups are 85%+ like this and not like some of the **** show ones we have seen.
If I could get 3 wishes: 1) Chas and Diaz play everyday. 2) Dubon becomes a backup infielder ONLY. 3) Any starting pitcher that allows a baserunner in the 6th inning or 3rd time through the order (or later) automatically triggers a pitching change for the rest of the season.
On paper this lineup looks good, but we all know how inconsistent the hitters are. Could get less than 3 hits.
3rd straight start for Dubon, when you are in Dusty's inner circle you are in it for good. Dubon is a worse CFer than Meyers (who is elite) and Chaz, but yeah sure he's the best option in CF. Whatever, as stupid Dusty stuff goes this is a good lineup. It's unrealistic to expect him to ever actually play the 9 best options in the regular season.
I would have Abreu, who currently is 132 out of 138 players in OPS, hitting 7th. But at least Dubon, ranked 122/138 in OPS, is at the right spot today (although a better spot would be on the bench). Hard to complain after some of the insanely bad lineups we have seen lately. Go Stros!
Dusty slowly conditions fans/players/media to accept subpar lineups by penciling even worse subpar lineups.
Right. Dusty isn’t the great guy people think he is. It’s some character flaws with him. He’s tarnished his own legacy with a lot of the fans of the only organization he won a World Series with which is hard to do.
I have refrained from complaining on a game to game basis for a long time now because it ends up taking away from my enjoyment of the game. That being said, I am actually angry with how Dusty has managed this team, especially lately. I don't think he has sent our best lineup out one time this year. He continues to manage this team like we have a 10 game division lead.
.287 ON BASE % since the beginning of July But johnnie knows numbers, he is projected to hit .387 today
Here's my lineup..... Altuve 2b Bregman 3b Yordan DH Tucker RF Diaz C Chas LF Pena SS Abreu 1b Dubon or Meyers in CF.
Hey, he had like 5 or 6 good games in August, so he's totally an excellent player now and should be playing everyday.
Dubon hitting .400 against Heaney with 10 ABs. I like rooting for Doobie, sucks that Krusty's malpractice in general has soured us against him or any other player.
Put Brantley in LF and Chas in CF and i'm in Although i'm one of the few that do like Pena in the 2 hole, especially against LHP
