Agreed! The 2 or 3 times I tried it the sauce is nasty salty... fries are weak... I tried Layne's just to compare the two, and their fries may suck worse, but they give you a choice of sauce. They both are kind of lame for what you pay, though.
I say that every time I'm at Lupe Tortilla, El Tiempo or Ninfas with their flour tortillas. I also usually eat one by itself cause I like it so much lol. Maybe that's just me though.
When I lived near a Canes I would always ask for Gravy. of course they never had it and never will but that didn't stop me from asking. Made me daughter mad since she liked that nasty sauce.
Theres nothing better than going through the drive thru and ordering a chicken tender basket with gravy, setting the gravy bowl in one of the cup holders of my Toyota truck and driving that bad boy down the road while dipping my tendies in that gravy, knowing I own the road in my badass(yet reliable) Toyota.
Yes, nothing better than to eat chicken and gravy in than your ascetically pleasing, reliable and value-holding Toyota rig. I don't get the appeal, either. Yay, another fried chicken joint! And to not have mashed potatoes and gravy with fried chicken...it's unethical. I feel like it appeals to weird pseudo-southern people, like transplant Californians or anyone from Dallas who says they're from the South.
Believe it or not, I think Los Cucos flour tortillas are some of the best I've ever had. Pretty sure they're made fresh because no 2 ever look alike. All this talk about chicken and mashed potatoes is making me really miss Grandy's. I see there are a ton in the dallas area, but none in Houston. What gives?? I wonder if I can DoorDash from Plano to Houston if I tip really big.
I went to this Italian restaurant today and lawd have mercy…they had this complementary garlic cheese bread with the marinara had me whispering dirty to my food
Both have a place in my heart, because have stolen the meal as the best thing on the table. Well tortillas can be used as utensils and easily can turned in the chips bread is part of the daily with sandwiches or burgers. Ones Culture is the answer.
Bojangles is opening up a couple of locations around me in the DFW area (one already opened up, but I don't feel like driving for it). Can't wait to taste it and see if the chicken lives up to the hype. Usually it doesn't. Then comes the "aw man, it was different back home... it sucks here!"
I started making my own tortillas this year and damn.... they are really guud. They are shaped crazy, but it's whatever.
Speaking of flat bread if anyone has had pita or chapati freshly baked those are really good too. in Somali food there is a type of bread called Malawah which is like a slightly sweet chapati. A restaurant near me once gave me a sample of some right off the griddle and it was amazing.
