He says he has a "friend" that is in the organization that called the Christian Vasquez trade last year.
I know I'm not liked but some of you need to understand. You don't want Maldy anymore. Well get JV he will be here. JV will almost demand it. So less of Diaz. Sorry it'll be facts
what does it even matter...he was already wrong. the mets started JV 2 games following him saying the astros traded for him.
Gilbert has already been tossed around by the Astros... Mets want Brown apparently and don't need a ready outfielder.
He makes the Astros hype videos before the world series, after Harvey, etc. He's a solid guy and never claimed to be an insider.
There are very few prospects that I think should be Untouchable. Even those, I would be fine with 1 or 2 going. There are no Yordan Alvarez or Alex Bregman's in this system right now. Essentially anyone in AAA or AA can be traded in the right deal, but that's what is actually holding this up. For example the Astros could offer all 10 of their top 10 prospects and the Mets would probably accept another teams #1 and #3 instead. As would many teams. The Astros best prospects project out to all be JAGS.
Trade deadlines are exciting times. Because for those that follow MLB minor league systems, a lot of the guys being monitored for years are exited (traded away) for ML veterans, the sad part is most of the times it’s only for a rental. There is a lot of movement and only one team win a title each season, so many fans are left wondering if their team just gave up the next Jeff Bagwell for a rental that may not get their team over the hump. The Astros though pedigree thin on the prospects list, do have decent quality in their system. Before this year I don’t think JP Frances was ever on any Astros top 30 list, and look at the guy today, 90+ innings with an ERA of 2.85 I know that the Astros can surely use a starting pitcher, but would losing the quality depth the Astros have grown be worth it? Guys like JP Frances, Bilek, McCormick, Peña, etc don’t make the sports center guys salivate, but they sure contribute to the Astros staying in the thick of another playoff race.

Sounds to me like maybe we got closer on a deal we liked better, maybe took some players out of the deal?
Gilbert easily. I have concerns about his ceiling. Chas is producing at the MLB level while Gilbert is struggling at AA.
I think it would be a disaster to have give up Hunter Brown, Gilbert, or even Chas to get JV when he could've just re-signed him in the off-season. Give up prospects or proven players and sacrificed half a season with no JV which already put a toll on the staff.
