Do you mean Crane and Dana aren’t seeing eye to eye, or none of our trade proposals are working … and/or they are panicking and don’t think they’ll land any targeted pitcher?
Probably just want the extra reliever for a few days before activating Urquidy. Plus Blanco has been optioned multiple times this season. Now you can only do that 5 times to a guy and he becomes a free agent.
I think he meant regarding our farm system status, and in general, our roster as a whole that has been decimated by injuries. Prior to this season, we always had so much depth that was never needed.
The pitching in AAA sucks. Why not try and catch lightning in a bottle? MAYBE you get a guy that could actually help. Couldn't be much worse than what they are running out in Sugar Land...
I think it affected our guys more than you think Our guys already pitched into November, so they had much less rest than most others before they started ramping up. Also, none of the pitchers on any team are used to throwing all out so soon after beginning their ramp up for the year. Those guys were throwing like it was the World Series. I think the WBC would be awesome if they could find a better time for it. The timing of it is just poor, and unfortunately for us even worse for teams that play late into the season, which we do every year
I have no idea who we would have to give up for Soto. I'm assuming a solid starter and a more than a few prospects.
Astros get: OF Juan Soto RP Josh Hader SP Blake Snell Padres get: SP Hunter Brown OF Chas McCormick OF Drew Gilbert SP Jose Urquidy OF Luis Baez RHP Spencer Arrighetti Playoff roster: 2B Altuve LF Soto 3B Bregman DH Alvarez 1B Abreu RF Tucker C Diaz SS Pena CF Meyers Bench: Dubon, Julks, Kessinger, Maldonado Rotation: Valdez, Snell, Javier, France Bullpen: Hader, Pressly, Abreu, Graveman, Neris, Maton, Stanek, Montero, Bielak

This would probably be the biggest trade in Houston sports history, with potentially (likely?) disastrous downstream effects, but holy moly would it be fun.
I don’t recall, if Snell is rental then hell no. Brown may have hit a rough spell, but he is our future ace.
Snell and Hader are half year rentals and Soto would be gone after 2024. Definitely not worth Brown and McCormick. I'd rather have Brown than Snell in a year or so anyhow, and don't trust Soto to be even better than Tucker. Too high of a price to pay
