It isn't the Braves to lose - that isn't how it works in baseball.... even the best team only has like a 25% chance of winning the WS. The Dodgers versus Braves match up is pretty close to a toss up with or without Verlander.
Really aggressive move for the Rays and Indians. The Rays got an effective 5 inning starter. I really like the player that the Indians got. He isn't every going to be Jeff Bagwell, but he can legitimately hit and can be a 3-4 WAR first baseman sooner than later. He has a really high floor.... the fact that the Rays paid the cost shows what the going rate is.
Soon........ probably April. Don't be shocked if he catches 50% of the time and possibly more, with him also getting at bats at DH....... and my guess is Salazar will be the back up, the Astros really like him defensively and as a game handler.
In theory you're probably correct. In reality the bullpen is overworked and if they want to win another championship Brown needs to add a top end reliever. This is why Brown said he's shopping for another reliever. I dont get why people are ok with Brown adding a middling reliever guy and not a dominate reliever that could put this team over the top when it comes to winning a WS. It's like fans have forgotten what was the main component in winning a championship last yr. They had 6 relievers Dusty could rotate out and keep them fresh, but the game was essentially over after the 6th inning. I still think playing in the WBC is what has caused a lot of the pitching issues.
I think they are. They are going all out. They may not succeed but you got to give them credit for trying.
Seems like over the years a lot of writers have ranked the Astros prospects lower than they should be. Every year the Astros have called up one or more players that weren't ranked that high and became impactful players for their deep runs recently.
Rays & Dodgers(maybe a few others): consistently good major league team, consistently top 5 farm systems. Must be nice.
They (Astros) have chosen to pay Tucker. He has declined each time they've offered, wanting to go into free agency. You can't keep Tucker on the team, beyond his current service years, if he doesn't want to be here. They screwed with his service clock and fired his big brother... in addition to not paying the guys he came up with what they wanted. I wouldn't count on him to be here beyond his current contract, regardless of the money.
Dude has a 2.143 WHIP with high walks and hits, but also has high strikes and only a 3.08 ERA in 51 games. Bring the walks down and we may have something
