So it's UH men? Umm-en? Like Uh-meh-ruh-kuh? Uh-Men. That doesn't feel right in my mouth. Julius Caesar was actually pronounced You-lius Ky-Zer. Sehr-hio You-e is the Rockets savior-can i get an umm en?

I don't like it at all. Burn it all down.

You could watch the draft again, specifically where they interview Amen's parents and they say his name the way they want it to be pronounced. It's called attention to details, try implementing the concept in your life.

I don't know, Amen seems like one of those words that you probably shouldn't mess with... it's either ah-men (Hebrew and formal Christian liturgical usage) or Ay-men (used by most of Christianity, particularly evangelical faiths and protestants, which most black Christians are). Uh-men is not an option. I mean, I guess it's his name and he can use what he wants, but it just strikes me as sort of uneducated to use "uh-men".

During Sengun's rookie year there were NBA announcers calling him "Shin Gun" instead of "Shengoon". So... there's that.

OK, in that video Amen's saying uh-MEN so I'm going with that, but this "discussion" is making me lol, so I hope it continues.

I never knew that about Hakeem! I always heard it was really Hakeem but they spelled it Akeem at first to simplify pronunciation for Americans, then he switched back once people seemed to get it. *shrug

The original spelling in Arabic is Hakeem and that's what he ultimately wanted. Like a Kris wanting to change his name to the original Chris spelling b/c it's less Jalen Green on Jaygup-y

    1) It's pronounced "Ah - MEN"
    2) As Hakeem once said, he didn't change his name's spelling to "Hakeem". He corrected it - it was spelled incorrectly since he arrived (and sometimes in Nigeria, too, from what I remember reading).

I just hope Amen doesn't have an injury-riddled career and we keep having to say "aww MAN"
