So I know it's not the same as Lopez, but I'd love to see them turn around and focus on Grant Williams now instead of Brooks. Williams isn't a 5, but he's definitely a 3-4 who could give you some minutes as a small ball 5 on occasion. And adding another big would give them more roster flexibility in the frontcourt. Bari could get more minutes at the 5, for example. Williams is an excellent shooter, and he's worked with Udoka before in Boston. I know they're hell bent on adding "veterans," but Williams would check a ton of boxes in terms of areas of need.
Give me KPj and Green and Tari and Bari and Alpi and Amen and Cam and tell me your supposed great coach can turn THEM into the players he needs vs signing FVV and Brooks to and who the hell knows who else to some monstrously hideous contracts to eek out just a few extra wins.
If you don't bring in Brooks, how are you going to be able to see Dillon and Jalen go 12-40 every night?
That's the way it goes my dude. Year 3 is usually the big step forward. It's natural progression and you clearly ignore the obvious tank which makes us look even worse than we could have been with a guy like Ime or a JVG for example trying to dig out every single ounce of effort from them to just get some more wins. This isn't the days of 22 year old rookies. They're taking mostly 3 years to get to where they become winning contributors and they have to grow to get there. Ime took over Bostons young guys already in full superstar bloom, but they were going through the grind since as old as our young guys, not even counting the ECF appearance b/c of some anomaly covid break-they were going through growing pains.
Lopez was a safe option for Sengun, now things will open up to different scenarios that vary widely We could sign a mediocre backup like Biyimbo or Bamba now securing Sengun a large role, or we could trade for a guy like Clint which will seriously limit Senguns role Or we could trade Sengun for Myles Turner
I'm perfectly fine with Jalen going 2k Allen Iverson, in fact i wish he was as aggressive as a young Iverson as long as he left it all out on the court like AI. I'd watch that a million times over watching them give the keys to Eric Snow and pretend we're going to win now. Home grown route vs whatever realistic route we take with established players is realistically maybe an 8 game difference at best. Shooting can be found throug role players while training our own young bucks to emphasis shooting and defense. Ime and his staff are supposed to be elite at that, right? SO GET TO WORK.
might as well see if they can consolidate the dead weight and scrubs on the roster and finesse a Clint Capela trade
Suffer through avg scrubs fat off their payday planning their next vacation who can't shoot after a decade of training, or suffer through exciting, athletic, hungry kids who can't shoot but are learning to shoot and play defense in only their first few years with the potential there to become more?
