Doing literally nothing would have been better than signing this deal. 2 years at a ridiculous rate for a mid tier PG? Rough, but whatever, 3? Absurd.
Does he have injury issues? I never followed him very closely Looks like he misses quite a few games every year
Contract appears to be trash, but I don't think this hurt's Amen at all. The Rockets have a bunch of Young guards who haven't established themselves as NBA players yet. FVV can play off ball, so if Amen blossoms and Jalen struggles you can start Amen and FVV together. If Jalen and Amen blossom, then you just have a good three guard rotation where they can all play with each other for 2 or three years until Amen and Jalen take over. I'm fine with FVV at this point and, again, the contract is ass, but this isn't the end of the world at all.
Poor guy. I guess he'll never have playoff success then? Couldn't win a ring shooting 38% from the field (37% from 3) in the playoffs, could he?
I guess they could’ve split it up amongst multiple vets, but that would take away minutes from the youngsters. In a vacuum, FVV isn’t worth that. Ever. But it’s not unreasonable here. If we don’t have to pony up to the rookies until 2-3 years and there’s some kind of option I’m the 3rd year, I don’t think it handicaps us much at all. We’ll see
When was he a starting PG on a championship team? Pretty sure my boy K-Low was starting for that team.
the worst team in the league for 3 straight years could use a ducking finals MVP. (Kawhi didn’t deserve it)
That 3rd year hurts but it’s manageable. Adding it essentially makes it into a 1.5 year contract. Stone will probably have to trade a 1st for a salary dump, maybe a player or two for expirings in year 2 at the deadline if wants that 2025 flexibility. Not the end of the world but it’s going to cost them assets.
