I would tend to agree but Jesse Buss probably got his job the same way and he’s regarded as one of the best scouts/assistant GMs in the league. He’s probably the best scout actually considering the talent the Lakers get late in the draft and undrafted. But then again I think Jesse got his start with the G league team and worked his way up before being called up on the big team.

I didnt know Patitta was only 23. makes sense to be nervous when forced into a higher up position in a billion dollar industry that you know you're gonna takeover eventually so everyone is watching/judging you. even with daddy's training that's probably still nerve racking. he'll probably feel more comfortable by his late 20s into his 30s but it's still cringey

    Bingo.

Some ppl really can’t see what’s right in front of their face.

Patrick is learning the ropes of everything in the organization to eventually take over the team from his Pops.

Don’t be salty because his dad has been successful and made billions. The team has to be passed down to someone eventually and Patrick is the chosen one and he’s seems to be taking it seriously.

    good for him.

Old news. He's an idiot just like the owner and has no business being in the FO of a professional basketball organization making decisions

a whopping 0 qualifications outside of a silver spoon. Being a host at Golden Nugget hardly qualifies to an NBA team

What's cringey is the Rockets keep promoting him and "The Fertitta Family" in their social media posts.

Owners should never take the title of GM, because GM’s are hired to be fired to save face; what’s an owner going to do splash egg on his/her face when they screw up? Owners don’t want to sit on the phone working deals for trades that go nowhere.

Owners like to have errand boys and girls do all the mundane work.

GM work is not for the faint of heart.

oh it's good for him personally sure. I mean that's pretty obvious.

Sucks for the fans of the rockets though that would like to see them win

Patrick’s father is owner of the Rockets. What father would not try to train his son to take over, if that is what his son wants? I don’t see Tillman putting a 23/24 year old in the GM spot. Seems like a good idea for Tillman to have him work on every aspect of the team, until he inherits it. This is all a bunch of people talking about sh*t that they have no clue about. Pessimists love to imagine all kinds of negative scenarios for the future. It is part of their personality disorder.

It's douchey to put him on calls to our draft picks. If he wants to learn, fine, but don't try and take the credit due to the GM and coach.

Can’t really blame the kid for wanting to learn the Rockets sector of the family business instead of the restaurant/casino sectors. It’s also okay to have an ownership voice in decisions as long as he ultimately defers to the professionals.

There's nothing inherently wrong with having the owner's kid working with the front office. If anything it's a good thing so the owner doesn't make decisions based purely on "I want to get this superstar" and understand the basketball side of things. It's only when someone make decisions based on his own personal preference instead of an informed decision that things can falter.

Just don't be like Jim Crane who is bringing in Jeff Bagwell and Reggie Jackson because you think the analytics people who got you the two championships should be balanced out by more baseball guys. That's when things will get dicey.

Patrick Failson is already involved in the decision making.

Imagine you are experienced and then some 23 year old son of the owner is your peer and is forced to me in meetings and the decision making process for anything that you do.

I know that's what Ime and Stone signed up for but so many people would be like who is this inexperienced kid why is he involved in my job.

Completely agree but wayyyyy down the road. PF is passionate about it and really loves basketball and wants to come up through the FO. Trust me, ten years from now he will at least be AGM or GM and eventually VP of ops. All good training ground for him as an owner like you said.

I do think down the road VP of operations. For now eyes and years. Soak everything up. I know the hate for Tilman is at a 10 for many. I think he is learning how to own a team, he'll get better. Ime is already a lesson learned.
