There is something about the Tate and KPJ’s salary. I think they have a weird incentive contract. I think if they cut Tate it would not hurt the salary and KPJ is really weird. His contract is just not 15 million straight up. It’s a million to stay on the team July 1st, 3 or 5 million if he goes to training camp, 5 or 7 on open roster. GM Stone made up crazy things in both contracts, so we can move on. I know on KPJ contract, after this year the 2nd or 3rd year are permanent….no options
No. Just that some insider heard the Cavaliers were most likely Kenyon Martin Jr. destination... I doubt the Cavaliers are looking to trade the Rockets a real difference maker in return.
would love this; let’s get something done! Feels like he will be traded in the next 48 hrs with the reports about the rockets stepping up the trade calls on KJ. I just want to recoup value instead of watching us mismanage him as an asset and get very little. I want at least a late 1st round value.
KMJ is not worth a late FRP. KMJ plus the 2024 Brooklyn SRP might net a Top 20 protected FRP. Granted, I hope I am wrong.
Maybe so. I know KPJ has a 4 year contract where Y1 is guaranteed. If the team wants to pick up the option after that, Y2 & Y3 are guaranteed together. Then the team has the option to pick up Y4. Very unorthodox, and maybe some outer nuance in there, but it’s still pretty team friendly right now.
poster ch44 is the one who started the rumor.... I was going to post that I have no clue...thought about it... yeah I have no clue what the value of Kenyon Martin Jr. is...
You didn't find a quote where I said straight up so you quoted me saying I would include him for contract reasons. Nice job defeating your own point. You're done now... I said you were done. I'm muting you now.
Very doubtful. I might be wrong, but I think the only first round picks they have until 2030 are swaps? They own quite a number of 2nd rounders. More likely we could get two 2nds? Hopefully not a 2024 2nd (we have 4 already) Having just looked at that - we have a LOT of 2nd rounders over the coming years - useful as trade filler I suppose? Might be better off taking a pick swap down the road.
My understanding from listening to local radio is they will not cut KPJ. They like him as a player and his nonguaranteed deal is useful in trades. I don't see them dealing him out of fear Jalen can't handle the defensive side. If they trade him and Jalen continues to be a bottem 5 defensive player that leaves you a free agent or Josh Christopher as a starter...
Yes, good use - but Cleveland don't have a first they can trade (I don't think - perhaps they do?). I was looking at what we might get from Cleveland - @ch44 usually has the good oil.
I don’t understand paying Van Fleet near the max who is barely 6’0 with a 6’1 wingspan who plays very similar to Eric Gordon.
that would be fine too. I just want something of fair value. We haven’t been getting fair value for our players under Stone.
You may be on to something... maybe that's why Garuba tweeted a bunch of eye emojis. Another player from Spain joining the squad?
