But great skills without great athleticism still make a good player. Great athleticism without good skills give you nothing.

Drafting Green was instrumental when it came to being able to tank the last 2 years, Amen will be instrumental when it comes to taking next season.

Hopefully at some point we use a top pick on a player who is actually good.

Trading Harden was instrumenta and the key/engine backbone and soull with the Rockets sponsors who green lit a 3 yr rebuild based on them having their picks

Which ended up being Green as first of the three selections with this draft being the last of phase one

Whoever the Rockets would have drafted wouldn't have prevented a planned tank job which resulted in 2-3-4 lotto slots

90% of players drafted in the top 5 are very athletic lol.

I mean Amen's athleticism is just said to be a level higher but Scoot is super athletic too and Miller is not some slow footed dude who can't jump.

It's actually all big time athletes mocked in the top 10 (aside from Dick). Aside from the big 4, Ausar, Whitmore, Wallace, Walker, Hendricks, Black are all great to amazing athletes. For a prospect to be taken that high, especially in a draft like this one, you have to have both skill and athleticism.

Mobley is just playing with 4 all stars who hide his flaws and try to boost him up as much as possible. Green has to be the no 1 option of a bunch of kids.

Lol what? Nothing? Obviously that’s not how the NBA works.

Cleary the idea is to build and develop those skills. Does it always work out? Of course not, but it doesn’t automatically give you nothing….

And you are pushing for Jarace Walker who is very much a “needs to learn a lot more skills” player.

It goes without saying that a certain level of athleticism/coordination is needed in the NBA. C'mon.

We’re not trying to build a functioning basketball team.

We’re digging for gold and hoping to build around it when we find it.

It should go without saying that Green and Amen have skills. The latter is certainly a lot more raw but he’s no Michael Kid Gilchrest

They both have a helluva lot more athleticism than skills.

But they aren’t devoid of skills, they can actually dribble.

Just seems to odd to dismiss NBA player development for rookies to try and make a point. It still seems early to start with “disturbing trend” is emerging.

And again, considering Jarace Walker is pretty athletic over skills…

Walker is a great ball handler who didn’t get to show his skill set at Houston. There is no need to negate his talent because Plow has an agenda. Walker would be awesome here and will be awesome anywhere he goes.

There is a reason why Amen is seen to have the highest upside outside of VW and it starts with the fact that he’s the fastest processor in this draft and is the first time we’ve seen this level of athleticism combined with that level of IQ since LeBron. He’s a jump shot away from being an MVP candidate. Even without the shot going above 32% from three he should be an All NBA guy.

Amen and Ausar took a weird route to get here. If they came out last year and played in a more competitive league they would have been in the mix for the first pick. The Rockets are lucky they are incredibly hard to evaluate.

And if you consider both sides of the ball and what we needed, Green was the pick. Was Mobley going to carry the offensive weight of the team? Everyone knows the answer.

Almost every single all time great with exception to maybe Curry had one or more physical advantage paired with one or more elite skill.
