[Kelly Iko BOMB] Rockets interested in CP3

Cp3 is older and more injury prone than Harden.

Chokes even harder than Harden.

He's even more desperate than Harden for a ring.

All the things folks used to not want harden, (age, ring, etc) the argument against cp3 is greater.

Only good point is that cp3 is on a cheaper contract, but folks haven't acknowledge is what we might have to give up to get him.

 

CP3 ain’t coming here unless forced to. I’d way rather have him than Harden, given the years on the contract and his professionalism. But it’s a pipe dream. I guess the Suns could include us in a 3-team deal and do CP dirty like that, but I have a really hard time seeing that.

 

I'll take CP3 for first round picks

There are reasons I’m not 100% on board with a Harden return.
For most the same reasons I’m not that interested in CP3 either.

 

People who want Harden I hope aren't wanting him because they think he can push us deep into the playoffs.

That isn't why we are getting Harden or CP3. At least those shouldn't be the reasons.

The reasons why we would bring one of those players in is the reason why CP3 is better at this specific role we want them for.

 

The Rockets might like Chris Paul, but Chris Paul HATES the Rockets and the owner….you guys forgot what happen last time before he was traded???

Subtracting $30m from their payroll still doesn’t give them cap room to replace him. They would have to get something back. I would imagine it would be KPJ. There are pros and cons to that, but that’s probably how it would need to be evaluated.

CP3 would likely be better at teaching a young player to be a point guard, as he's already proven to be capable of doing it.

As far as the other stuff, the reason they're an argument against Harden is because he will likely be on a long, expensive contract. If he were here for only 2 years at a reasonable price, I don't think most people would care that he's getting older and chokes in the playoffs.

Whole point of signing a point guard is to help our young squad improve and bridge the gap to a future contending team. We're not trying to contend for a title yet. People need to get that whole idea out of their heads.

I could also see the Rox acquiring CP3... letting him help build culture / mentor younger guards... and then buying him out (if not traded) at the trade deadline (then he chooses where he wants to go)

They'd do it to get under the second apron. The new CBA is going to destroy teams deep into the tax.

Yeah I hate CP but he's probably the ultimate "make your team better" guy, look at OKC.
