Those were all in Lancaster. Not really comparable to Asheville. Asheville is friendly to lefties but not to right handed hitters necessarily. Dezenzo is hitting much better on the road anyways. Hard to really make any real comparison to anything that happened in Lancaster
Crazy right? Limited sample but his OPS is over .800 and he has 6 homers. Great defense, great speed, great talent but at times Carlos Gomez vibes for me
His offensive numbers are as volatile as Gomez's personality. If he's not mashing the ball (fairly common), his batting line falls to pieces. Despite his 126 wRC+, he's still only hitting .240 with a .298 OBP. And even those numbers are a huge step up from his .213 average and .268 OBP last year. He's not going to continue to run a nearly .300 ISO all year.
This is a good point. But even since 2021 monster High A seasons were put up by guys like Joe Perez, Alex McKenna, and Seth Beer. The point remains that the list of guys putting up wRC+ >140 in High A (regardless of league/park) is nowhere near as good as the guys who do it in AA.
True. I'd take a Joe Perez or Seth Beer type of prospect from him though which would be a win relative to where he was drafted. I will be anxious to see how he performs in Corpus.
He didn’t project to be that good when Houston traded him. As they are known to do, the Rays are getting more out of Siri than expected. The Astros turned him from a minor league free agent into a strikeout prone everyday caliber CF with some pop. The Rays have leveled him up into an elite defensive CF who might put up 30HR/20SB despite striking out >30% of the time.
No question they've eeked out more of Siri than Houston did, but they didn't magically turn him into a 30/20 guy. He's played in only half of TB's games this year. I suspect they've only played him in very favorable match-ups. He's not a 140-150 game kinda guy. His bat's not nearly good enough to play every day. He got a fair amount of regular at bats last year between Houston and TB and was a below average bat in both places. I would not be surprised if he finished the season in the 15/15 range after some regression.
Zach Cole homered again in the first game of Fayetteville's doubleheader. He now has 7 home runs on the season. Alimber Santa allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out five over four scoreless innings to get the win.
Yes. Because a guy who can hit a bit *and* play 3B is quite valuable. 3B are not easy to find, was my point.
Blanco 5IP 2H 2BB 7K 0R against a very good Dodgers team the Space Cowboys can never beat. Most encouraging stat is 79 pitches. 0.84 ERA. Seems like he's ready to relieve France or Bielak, whoever falters first.
Blanco seems like a classic AAAA guy, good stats at AAA but can never get over the hump at the big league level.
Jacob Melton hit his 7th homer of the season for Asheville. This one was a go-ahead two-run blast in the 8th to give the Tourists a 10-9 win over Greensboro.
Good to see these aren't just Asheville homers for Clifford. I believe my Pony league park was deeper down the right field line.
