#1 is always reserved for the skinny players. Kevin Garnett Big Ticket like. This means Jabari is hitting the gym....bulking up
Ime likes to run a play like this: ...............................O ( rim )............# KPj ..................................................(+40% CnS 3's) .....# ( Jabari ) .........# ( Wemby)...................# (Sengun) .................................................[....(screen) ..................................................*#.Green Wemby and Bari shooting 3's on the perimeter and the defense rotating. Not many could block their shots. The possibilities are endless No way the NBA lets us get Wemby.....right?
I'm guessing with the way those 2 are shooting 3's, the defense would prefer they continue taking them. Hopefully Jabari's shot continues to improve, but no telling how long it would take Wembanyama's 3 may take to come around, if it even exists.
Jabari: ( last 19 games): 82 (3PA)........ .366 (3P%) Wembanyama: 20/21: 18 games : ........44 (3PA).......... .364 (3P%) 22/23: 30 games : .......151 (3PA)......... .298 (3P%) Sengun : 21/22 : 72 games.........117 (3PA)......... .248 (3P%) 22/23 : 75 games...........57 (3PA)......... .333 (3P%) I would say all of Wemby, Jabari and Sengun need to improve their 3-ball shooting. In that particular play Sengun does the Al Horford role and will need to shoot the 3 proficiently. The threat of Wemby or Jabari screening for each other off the ball worries the opposition , one of those mobile BIGS will roll to the basketball and the other pop out for a 3. Jabari https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/smithja05/gamelog/2023/ Wemby https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/wembavi01.html Just an FYI: Scoot Henderson shot .275 (3P%). Teams are going to just play him for the drive. P.S. having Jabari on one side of the court perimeter and Wemby on the other side perimeter would be deadly......and each would benefit from the other hitting 3's. The opposing team would have to be full of Durant's or Chet Holmgrens to rotate and contest.....6'1" Brunson, Fred VanVleet or CP3 have no chance of blocking their shots. Shouldn't even try to contest these 7 footers shooting 3's.
Why would you only pick Jabari's last 19 games? Compare their whole seasons, don't cherry-pick. Which one of the three had the best 3-point % last season?
Because he was an 18 year old rookie that had to get use to the schedule, the grind of an NBA season and yes he hit a rookie wall just like I said Sengun would after 30 games.....remember we had this conversation last season? Where Sengun was 40% from 3 in the first 25 games and then something like 21% thereafter (rookie season). It's not cherry picking when I call it in advance. I'm saying they all need to improve....not just Sengun. Wembanyama only played 30 games; I have no doubt he will hit that rookie wall as well. Wembanyama will benefit from having Harden CnS and KPj CnS threes being over 40% though. *Edited: conversation was with Alperen Sengun ( member here )
I agree they all need to improve, but compare apples to apples. Looks like Sengun already improved during the season - calendar year 2022 to calendar year 2023.
Now who's cherry picking stats.....on how many attempts? He finished with 0.8 threes per game for the season and the opposition were daring Sengun to shoot by leaving him open. I asked you for your thoughts on that play.....and this is what you come up with now?
Nobody guards Sengun at the perimeter......you didn't see teams contesting Jabari on the perimeter? Change out your glasses......to your non Sengun only glasses
You are being a clown. Jabari was 4.3 attempts during that stretch. You clowns are hypocrites.....when KPj shots well in CnS threes you Mofos will say, yeah but it's on less than 1.2 attempts or something stupid like that. Man just STFU.....just get your dreamboat Sengun up to par with Al Horford numbers. That's who you need to be thinking about. Sengun vs Al Horford numbers.......that's the role Sengun is going to have. Horford isn't afraid to shoot 4 threes in a game.
Ariza, TMac both were key for us Tho Trevor missed a lot of threes in game 7 of WCF and TMac never made round 2 here plus constantly injured - I’d say their careers as Rockets overall was a success
Glad to see Bari got his big Ben number back, just as Green got his lil Joe number back Now all that is needed is seven n eleven
