Paxlovid has a ton of interactions, if you’re taking other meds could be related to that worsening it. Covid can , if sever cause liver enzymes to spike Btw everyone has gotten covid, some people hits them like a mild allergy. Everybody probably has gotten it at least twice
it astounds me that there still are some folks who appear not to have been infected yet. I realize I'm an outlier, but still it seems remarkable that there are people who have never had it.
true, and I suppose people who don't live in urban environments, and have little contact with others.
Nope. Keep reading. This. It’s usually much, much worse for people who aren’t vaccinated. I heard on NPR that something like 2/3rds of the deaths are in the unvaccinated.
2/3 of the covid deaths occurred before vaccinations were available. I've been vaxxed three times. I had covid twice before vaccinations were available, and twice (maybe thrice) after I had three jabs. the first two infections were non-events. the last two have been progressively worse. for the moment, I'm done with the shots (and I think we need to stop calling them vaccinations). Spoiler this is not a political statement; just one man's problem Spoiler
My eldest sister died from it in March 2020. Me and my wife both got it in May 2021 while trying to schedule vaccination. I was hospitalized with COVID pneumonia for 14 days. First time in my entire life that I was hospitalized. We both recovered and have been fine ever since thank God. I understand that some people feel that vaccines are part of some conspiracy or want to make it a political thing. How bad could the pandemic have gotten without vaccines?
We got Covid in January of 2022 (the big 2nd winter omicron spike). Both vaxxed and boosted. For my wife it was like a normal cold. Felt crummy, but nothing major. For me it was just a tickle/burning sensation in my lungs. For about two weeks I could not, for the life of me, talk without coughing. Otherwise I was completely unaffected. Never ran a fever, never lost taste/smell. Just that damn cough.
I've had covid twice. First time sucked, body aches, cough, tired for a week. I took a crap ton of vitamins, ivermectin and.. I think something else and felt back to normal pretty quickly after that. I had it again last summer while traveling and it was much milder, felt like I had the flu for a couple of days and then I was better. My daughter and husband had it twice also, and it acted like mostly just allergies for them the first time around. The second time seemed to hit them harder, and me easier.
My older son still hasn't tested positive for it. Obviously I can't say for sure that he's never had it...but he hangs out with friends...dates...volunteers to coach basketball....and works for an accounting firm that sends him out to clients a ton. I'm stunned he's never tested positive for it.
If you really want to know, he could possibly do an antibody test, but not sure that works anymore after getting the vaccines (I think it doesn't). But I think there are also some people who for some odd reason are very genetically resistant towards contracting it. In medicine, there are always rare outlier cases, for almost everything.
Just tested positive for Covid. Came into the Urgent Care assuming it was strep throat, but I should have known. My throat has been hurting since Friday. Never hurt this much since the last (and the first) time I had Covid. The doctor said currently you'll test negative for Covid till possibly 5 days after your symptoms first appear which seems... not ideal. Got prescribed Paxlovid, so hopefully, I'll feel better soon.
Sorry to hear but glad y'all are better. Condolences to your family. We have avoided covid so far (knock on wood). My wife has had severe health issues for the last several years so we have taken extreme measures from day one. She's been hospitalized multiple times during the pandemic and we feared exposure at every ER or hospital stay. My youngest son in college has had it 3 times. My oldest boy and family have had it multiple times as well.
I'm losing track now whenever these waves start happening. At least with the flu, it was normally once a year. Wth Covid, it seems like every quarter. Paxlovid is giving me some nasty metallic aftertaste. Be prepared!
