The Rockets should target O.G. Anunoby, not Jaylen Brown

The main reason Nurse was fired is because those players have tuned him out. They're done with him. So if we pursue OG, we should accept that we won't get Nurse (or vice-versa).

I don't think Toronto will completely blow it up, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them make a big trade or two this offseason and try to get a bit younger and plan toward more cap flexibility in the near future.

I think this is certainly true for the majority of their locker room, but Anunoby made glowing remarks about him in the media after their play-in loss and said he loves playing for him. Could just be professionalism and putting on a good face, but I'll note that a lot of their players didn't do that.

I’d laugh and hang up on Toronto. OG is nice but he’s nowhere close to a franchise guy

They're just trying to set the table for a future trade. Standard operating procedure.

I disagree - Toronto had the chance to go for Wembanyama Scoot etc this year - seems like a big mistake to tank into a much weaker draft class

Also i just think it's a better baseline assumption that Toronto is going to see the warts on our players a lot more than you or I will when it comes to asking price for all star level players- if they're going to retool around a "young core" why would they pick Houston's? Why not try to get some of Orlando guys or Cade Cunningham or whatever. That seems just as likely as assuming they'd " love" any of our players - who are a tough sell, by the numbers, to any neutral observer, and who all have pretty obvious flaws.

More likely they would pick nobody's young core and opt for draft picks to get the types of players they want. It's much easier to project your hopes and dreams onto a blank canvas than Alperen Sengun ever not being a defensive disaster. There's not really anything to suggest that the current Rockets fit that description

Nobody is trading a Cade Cunningham level prospect for Anunoby or Siakam. They can ask, but they shall not receive

I'm a huge fan of OG, but if Nurse comes here I think we have players like Smith/Tari who I'm super intrigued by what Nurse could do for their development.

Tari could very well be the next OG

All of these things are unlikely to happen - but when you say "a Cade Cunningham level prospect" you mean the guy who came out of Oklahoma State rather the Cade Cunningham level NBA player who was so-so and then just had major surgery.

At some point players stop being prospects and start being - players. People on this board treat a lot of our players as prospects but i have a feeling that opposing teams treat them more towards the player end of the scale

Disagree on OG being worth more than one of our top 3. He is a really good role player. All our core players have much more potential than OG and we are not trying to win a championship any time soon.

Yeah, let’s target a role player over a star. We have all the stars on the roster, so it’s time to fill it out the roster with glue guys. Let’s add PJ Tucker as well, he can take us over the top!

But we could have just done that without rebuilding, why did we waste time building a core to trade it for Siakam and OG who have just proven they can't be the best players on a contender. Seems like we are just flushing the last two years when the players are about to get their first chance to play organized winning basketball.

    Very odd thinking.

Would be weird if we were stuck with 4 borderline All Stars, 2 defensive specialists and an army of role players fighting for minutes.

The players that tuned out Nurse are Siakam and FVV I think.

Basically, Siakam doesn't want to play without FVV so he protects him and encourages him to take a lot of shots just because they're friends and he believes in him. Further when Barnes was given some playmaking duties, FVV didn't like it so much. Nurse can see that this is not the right way to play, that the only chance they have is to not play hero ball since their talent is very spread out across the roster and they don't have 1 elite star scorer which you typically need to be a playoff team.

I think Barnes and OG have always been fine with Nurse. With Nurse at the helm, Green would become an elite scorer pretty quickly giving him the most gravity-demanding offensive weapon he's had since Kawhi. They've been trying for years to get someone like that since Kawhi left but as you know those players don't grow on trees so they've been capped at Siakam's scoring potential.

Trade Tari Eason? Why would you trade a guy who has an uncanny ability to get in passing lanes and create turnovers and grab timely rebounds especially on the offensive end? You’re talking about Anunoby here. Again statistics only tell part of the story especially when you’re only using a few metrics to compare players. OG has been in the league for 6 years and played 35 min per game last year and still hasn’t been able to crack at least 20 ppg. He hasn’t even hit this mark his entire career. In fact his numbers plateaued the past 3 years. So what are you really getting back in this trade? You’re trading a really good role player only in his second year and cheaper for another really good more expensive role player who likely have hit his peak.

Trade for neither and call it a day after trading Tate & signing Williams or Johnson in FA.

This. Why would we trade what we have when it's probably where Toronto *wants* to be post-OG and Siakam? Why does everyone think that Toronto is a middling 8-10 seed with these players?

Jabari and Jalen are *untouchable*. I can't stress that enough lol. There isn't a player in the NBA they'd currently be traded for. None. There is no prime Lebron or prime KD in the league currently. There isn't a prime Steph or Harden either. Or Kawhi. This current crop of "stars" is a huge step down from what we had 7 years ago. The thought of trading either for OG or Brown is laughably stupid.

As good as Brown is he doesn't have the ceiling of either Jabari or Jalen. And that's pretty much what its about.

Can the Rockets sign Harden and then trade for OG and Capela?

    Harden/Tyty
    Green/JC
    OG/KJ/Tari
    Wemby/Bari
    Capela/Sengun
