He says he benched Sengun because Lillard was going at him in the pick and roll every single possession.

Lillard scored 10 of his 71 points on Sengun off the pick and roll. 61 points on other people’s heads who did not get benched. Fire Silas before he ruins the best prospect on the team.

Did not bench Christian Wood one time. Has not benched KPJ or JG. Jabari... o_O

Also, has he called out any of the above players in post-game pressers like he does Alperen? Serious question.

I watched the end of the Clippers/ Nuggets game.

The commentators mentioned Lillard, and said something to the effect of ''you'd think you might change up the coverage at some stage''

1 on 1 coverage was irrelevant on Lillard. Needed to be a trap/ double. The bigger issue was players clocking off after Dame passed the ball, then he would move, lose the defender (who started ball watching), and get it back for a wide open 3

I guess the smile is all he has left to lean on

Including he coached Luka/Curry etc, which most players have extreme favored bias for their past n present assistant coaches

He basically never coached Luka, he was just a bystander.

They were doubling him for a while, but he did a great job of finding the open man.

Oops. Just re-read your post, @DrNuegebauer, and see you said as much. :D

I get why he put Jabari at the 5 because he’s more defensively mobile, but Dame was going to hit shots no matter what. We needed Alpi’s offense to have any chance to come back. Silas is just a bad coach.

They were on ESPN laughing at the Rockets. One guy was saying that "Maybe they'd change something up." then the other guy "We know why they won't."

It's sad that this organization thinks building these bad habits is a good thing to do. They could have still lost but played sound fundamental basketball. Instead the team just rolls over at any sign of adversity.

No, I think he did. Those players just don't randomly give props to people.

Difference is he was part of a veteran coaching staff then and on a veteran team and was just an assistant coach.

It's very possible that Silas is an excellent assistant coach but a bad head coach. The reason being is it takes leadership skills to be a head coach, more than just x and os and strategy. You need to be able to drill good habits into players and fix bad habits and that takes leadership, that takes discipline, and that takes knowing when to be the nice guy and knowing when to be the bad guy and knowing which buttons to push.

All the great coaches they knew how to motivate, they knew how to push buttons, they knew how to get the most out of most of the players on the team.

Hi all! Long time follower, first time poster.

Regarding Silas, in such a vulnerable situation as he is in right now, you can expect more and more instances of such behavior.
After all, the instinct of self-preservation is one of the basic ones.

Yes, you could call a large variety of talking to young players as coaching.

I don't think what he does with the Rockets is actual effective coaching.

Guys like Doncic don't need to be pampered, they learned fundamental basketball from a kids age.

Silas is not an innovator, feel free to call him coach.

If you haven't mastered the craft of coaching, you are just hapless soul.

He might be a budding psychologist and someone who preaches 5 Out.

You make someone else beat you. The team is in a bad place. No leadership no commitment no coach. Its like John Wall said right now we are a nbad organization. The problems started when Les Alexander left.

There is no way Sengun stays once his rookie deal is done,

It’s astonishing how efficient this franchise is at being atrocious.

The only way I’d want this useless POS as Coach still is to see that blank distant stare on the sidelines as Sengun absolutely feasts in his revenge game. Would be even funnier than this joke Silas is playing each game now.

He got them gigs for good, lucky him.

Right place, right time, Silas as a name people recognized.

    You don't fire assistant coaches.

You guys won't believe my theory here it goes, silas already has a job lined up after the last game of the season with a rival of ours either warriors or mavs as an assistant, he is purposely upsetting our best prospect sengun hoping it causes sengun to demand a trade thus making the rockets even worse next season, no proof but I have a hunch silas knows he's canned already, and has been offered a job already and is basically screwing over the rockets on purpose by completely ruining our future after he leaves kinda like how lovie, did to the texans last game of season

Either that or he is literally the dumbest coach ever since Adam and eve. Doesn't matter which, but he is costing us the future the longer he stays ..should have been let go after the all star game at the latest.

Silas is a typical narccistist idiot introvert. He thinks he is not popular because noone understands him. He makes up his mind on something, and continues with that agenda whatever actually happens
