    The Austin Police Association blamed policy makers for allowing it to happen.

    "Austin policy makers are directly responsible for the overall safety of their citizens & visitors," the association said on Twitter. "Looks like they failed to make the right decisions & continue to defund, destroy, & demoralize public safety. Austin was one of the safest cities, NOT anymore."

    The trending IG car culture has evolved from a nuisance into a MENACE. They need to crack down hard with severe tickets. Suspending licenses. Impounding vehicles. Jail time, etc...

    I can't think of Austin as a dangerous place, I remember being able to wander around back alleys downtown at 2 AM super drunk stumbling home without even the hint of danger, though I left over a decade ago and I'm sure it has changed.
