Anyone pick up the new Van Halen CD?

    So it looks like Hagar and Eddie finally patched things up enough to have some kind of a working relationship.

    Kind of funny, cause I had no idea things were seriously in the works, other than the VH thread on here a few months ago, (who brought that up, TheFreak?) which I had kind of forgotten about. But lo and behold, I accidently stumbled onto the main page on Windows Media Player (which I never use) where they are previewing one of the new songs.

    In case you haven't heard, it's a two CD best-of set called "Best of Both Worlds" (wasn't that what Sammy wanted in the first place?) featuring DLR and Hagar songs. No Cherone - not even a mention - go figure. Three new songs "It's About Time" (the single), "Up For Breakfast", (my favorite), and "Learning To See" (eh...).

    So last night I was at Wal-Mart, and I picked up for $16. It's been a long time coming, that's all I have to say...

    I would've picked it up if it was Classic Van Halen... instead it was a combo and I just passed.

    Darkhorse - Hagar originally left because he said he didn't want to do a Greatest Hits when they released their first greatest hits. Guess he changed his mind on that. Funny stuff.

    I didn't plan on picking it up. They already have a "Best Of: Volume I". Now they have this thing out that has all the tracks from 'Volume I' again. I won't buy this one on sheer principle. May look to download the new tracks though.

    Also, IIRC from Guitar World at the time, Eddie was working closely with Glen Ballard and when Ballard rewrote some of Hagar's lyrics at Eddie's request, he (Hagar) freaked out.

    Ray Daniels broke up the band through his mismanagement. Ray also managed Extreme, so you can see where the idea of the next VH singer came from.

    Glen Ballard is the devil. At least that's what I'm supposed to feel as a rabid DMB fan.

    I thought he wanted to keep the Roth and Hagar stuff on separate CD's, and to have a 2 CD set. Maybe that was misinformation, though.

    The ironic thing is that this is a 2 CD set, but the songs are inter-mixed. It's almost Roth-Hagar-Roth-Hagar the whole way through.

    He was right not to want to have to stack up to DIAMOND DAVE. There is no Van Halen without DLR.
