So..... you didn't get the clue when the Rocket's added no vets to the roster in FA or actually got younger during the mid season deadline.....? You even brought it up.... but it's just not processing in your mind? None of that suggested to you that the Rockets were giving themselves the best chance at Wemby or Scoot.... two prospects that are looked to be better than any prospects in the last couple of drafts.... one of which is getting the "generational" label?
They aren't wrong..... but they aren't giving the context that the Rockets are going all out in order to give themselves the best shot at Wemby and Scoot..... two prospects that are looked upon considerably better than the last two draft classes.... with one prospect that is labeled as "generational". You can argue about culture and coaching all you want.....and I don't think you are completely wrong but clearly the memo was to do a Hinkie style rebuild, especially when it became apparent the type of prospects that would be available in 2023. BTW.,.... the culture/coaching team of the millennium (Spurs) have a lower point differential than us and look as hopeless us as and in the same predicament. So much of succeeding in the NBA is timing and luck..... would have been nice if we could have gotten Scoot with the 2nd pick in 2021 but instead we are tanking even further during the last season of the bottoming out phase of the rebuild.
Fandom is irrational.... but you are just going to drive yourself crazy trying to get a handle on this current team. We all know the odds for Wemby and Scoot.... but can someone tell me the odds of flipping assets until you get another Harden trade? I'd bet it's lower than the odds of getting Wemby and Scoot, but it would probably be a better fan experience. Even if we miss out on Wemby and Scoot, we still have no untouchable players with a war chest of picks to begin the process of flipping assets until we get another Harden trade. However, it would be a better starting place than in 2021.
No, the problem is they have watched the Rockets. The coach is bad, the players are bad, the GM is bad, the owner is bad and the crowd stinks every home game. What are you watching?
Are you really that dense? Surely you don't believe that the Rockets want to lose games AND look like buffoons doing it? Go ahead and announce you dont know anything about sports without actually saying it.
No the actual problem in this particular story is they actually don't watch Rocket games. You think anyone on the TNT crew follows teams below the play in line? Do you think these "analysts" could even name the top 3 players of the bottom 7 teams in the NBA? They are entertainers. If you want analysis listen to a podcast or something
Lol…. Go ahead and announce your are an emotional being without actually saying it…. Ah yes…. The belief that we can have our cake and eat too…. That we can look good losing while being able to out tank three other teams with only 3 games separating last place with 4th last. Trying to go for last place never looks good…. Hinkie style tanking never looks good. And I’m not even arguing that we don’t look like buffoons, I’m just telling the plan. BTW Memphis still had vets and never went full Hinkie rebuild.
Yeah ok, so then Houston is in no better position than Detroit and their draft picks and Orlando and their draft picks then? Is 10 games under .500 better? So if we drafted their players, we'd still suck the same and you'd be throwing those all the blame and hate. Hornets dropped the ball when they drafted ball too i guess? Man, if Only we had LeBron James and Anthony Davis. We could be 5 games under .500 right now. Or that stud Dame Dolla. We could be a whole 2 games under .500. Or maybe the talent just sucks and today's NBA is trash even with all the gaudy inflated stats? Or maybe you're just super critical of a team whose only purpose is tanking for Wemby. Mobley wouldn't change that and Sengun wouldn't be here if we had Mobley and we'd be the worst offensive team in the NBA still led by your guy...a guy who got rewarded for bad behavior by our franchise, but you and DD want to see him continue to be rewarded. His terrible play is okay because you like him, right? Jalen and Bari's terrible play is unacceptable...well.. because you don't like them. Throwing his name in as bright spot. Haha. Give me f'n break Bobby. Look under the same microscope you view Jalen under, and KPj is trash too. They all are. So is the rest of the majority of the NBA. But, maybe we just have an incompetent coach? That's okay though, because he loves your guy and wants to turn him into shooting heroin under the bridge homeless mans version of James Harden/Luka.
We've been only one game worse than Detroit most of the season. When did Detroit start their rebuild? Why isn't everyone piling on Detroit like they are Houston right now? We have all this youth, might add one of the most hyped players since Lebron, and have picks from a Nets team that could easily bottom out until 2027. Why is it I keep hearing Detroit has a bright future but the Rockets don't?
Cade being out for the season got them pity points. But in reality it wasn't like Cade was at a stage in his development where he would add that many wins.
Kenny and Charles have been right all the time against Clutchfans Even in the Tmac era when fans got mad at them for not predicting a nba finals @Os Trigonum
Possible reasons: - Cade has missed all year - Detroit hasn't been the absolute worst team in the league going on 3 years in a row - They don't seem to have a culture of unaccountability - Didn't have a player go home at halftime and another refuse to enter the game at the same time - ect
Also non Rocket fans believe the Rockets are extra bad because they think they are putting more talent on the floor than the other 3 worst teams so there should be no excuse for them to be this bad. Sengun, Green, KPJ are all far more talented than anyone in the Pistons rotation (Cade is out for the season) , Hornets rotation outside LaMelo and the Spurs rotation. Kinda think of it in the manner of how MLB fans hate the Angels for wasting high level talent.
The problem is as Gordon said the kids aren't improving. In fact they seem to be regressing. It appears to me that they've quit on Silas.
You can tank and still set boundaries with your young players. You can still hold them accountable, you can still teach them and coach them. You can still hold your head coach responsible when he doesn’t teach as well as he should. This isn’t an “either/or” scenario, you can and should do and it doesn’t have to be reflected in extra wins.
