Ok, I'm looking for a pre-paid cell phone to use for a couple of days and then toss. I need an area code of "281".

That said, I'm looking for the crappiest, cheapest deal available. Looks mean nothing. This is for business for a couple of days only.

    Any ideas?

That'd be great, but their aren't any 7-eleven's in Houston. Any idea if any other convenience store in Houston does this.

BTW, I tried to go to Radio Shack, but their cheapest deal was 95 dollars. I'm figuring I can find one cheaper than that.

I don't know if area codes could be changed on prepaid phones, either.

I'm getting the phone tomorrow, using it tomorrow, and discarding it tomorrow. Can I use a discarded old cell phone, like from T-mobile, and get a new #, minutes on it?

Also, I can't put any identification down for the card. We're pulling a "Jerry McGuire" here.

In my recent visits to Houston, I have used several prepaid services.

My last trip I was lucky enough to find an ATT "Go" phone on the clearance rack at Target - the phone was $22 and I signed up for a preaid deal that gave me $40 credit (which I cancelled after being there only 1 week). The phone was not the best but It suited me perfectly. I just checked their website and they are offering phones online for only $49 - pretty good deal if you ask me.

The next best option would be Virgin mobile - they are sold almost everywhere (including all Sprint PCS stores) and they offer a pretty reasonable price. The cheapest phone they offer is $59. Go to http://www.virginmobileusa.com/ to research.

So I would suggest, in order of preference
    a) Try the target clearance rack for an ATT Go Phone
    b) Buy a Go-phone online for $49
    c) Virgin mobile
