    Who you got?

Even though The Cure have more albums, I am going to go with The Smiths as they have a more consistent discography.

Of the band discussion today I'd say I still listen to The Smiths (and Morrissey) far more than New Order, DM, or The Cure.

The Cure was my favorite band in HS so I have to give them the edge. The Smiths were phenomenal but broke up too early and Morrissey stole/carried some of their fire.

    The Smiths vs La Maz?

    The Smiths.

The amount of kids that comment on my Smiths shirt is surprising. From Miley Cyrus to Radiohead, the influence of The Smiths is countless and far-reaching..and I absolutely love The Cure.

Johnny Marr is a highly underrated guitarist.

the cure might be my all-time favourite band so im going with them. but i love the smiths and also love the first few morrissey albums.

who would win in a fight - robert smith or morrissey? i think bob would kick his ass.

Both bands have a lot of 9s and 10s. One band has a greater quantity of 9s and 10s.

So, if my calculations are correct, the correct answer is The Cure?

DC - I respect you a lot (just like I do for jo) but The Smiths never released an album as bad as “Wild Mood Swings” or “4:13 Dream”. Quantity over quality.

Having a bad album isn’t the death of a band, lots of all time bands release a bad album here and there, it’s the equivalent of a game stretch in an 82 season.

    In terms of cultural influence,
    Immediate recognizability the cure win.

I'll be forgiving and give bands a pass once they get that deep into their career. Besides, The Cure already objectively had 6 "great" full-lengths by that time (the actual number is 8, but I'm containing myself a little). The Smiths had 4 by my count. Five if you include Louder than Bombs, which you should. Though, the Join The Dots box set somewhat cancels that out. The Smiths do have a pristine discography, so I guess that's worth something.

Anyway, the point is that even if you dock a few tallies from The Cure for hanging around too long, the math still works out in their favor.

But seriously, I actually just simply like The Cure a little bit more (but I do stand by my math :) )

The Smiths were a very talented and influential band but I just can't stand Morrisey's voice.

This is very tough for me. Two of my fav bands all time.

I don’t think the Smiths put out one bad song let alone a bad album. Still, not sure it’s fair because of the lack of material compared to the Cure. Reeeeaaally hard for me to pick one.

The Cure was/is much more versatile imo.

I can listen to every Smiths track over and over and to me there is no filler.

You can’t say that about the Cure. I think there is also something to say about longevity, though. Damn Morrissey for being such a turd.

I’ve heard a few new unreleased Cure tracks and they are so good.

I chose The Smiths but I feel dirty doing it.
