No matter what we think of his coaching, there is not a person on this board that doesn’t believe that Silas is a top notch, classy, extremely nice person. Very sad to hear about his dad and condolences and prayers to him and his family.

That sucks for Stephen. Lucas can hold down the fort while Stephen takes needed family time.

I recently lost my mother, so I can imagine what Stephen Silas is going through. I know it's hard but God is real and just know that Paul Silas is in a better place.

My heart hurts for coach Silas. I know he was very close to his father as I am to mine. I can only imagine how devastating this is.

Paul and Stephen were very close and Paul was his mentor. This will be a tough one. Best wishes to the family.

Stephen… what a rough basketball set of cards he’s been dealt. This better be the last of it, the man deserves better. RIP Paul Silas, I always liked seeing you on the sidelines and the highlights of how you played the game. Rest easy big fella.

    RIP Papa Silas.

For anyone interested, here's a great article Grantland did a few years ago on him :

This is really really tough. If Stephen Silas needs to step away from the game for awhile I'd understand. Paul would want him to coach tonight.

I had a personal regard for the gent. In fact, at least truth, Paul Silas taught me how to be an effective rebounder.
