I know this is a big deal with freeing the "Merchant of Death", but are yall seriously upset that that Griner was released? I understand the dude is bad news, but Griner is someones daughter, wife, friend, what if this was your child? Would you feel the same?

As much as i believe the Merchant will reign his power again, the US will just need to do a better job of keeping an eye on his BS. I know thats easier said than done!

    Welcome home Brittney!

Griner is gonna parade herself around like some hero now, go on every single talk show and milk as much publicity as she can from this ordeal. Then in a few years, she's gonna go back to talking crap about America and how America sucks.

If I were her, I'd just lay low for a few years and stay as quiet as I can... too bad there's no chance of her actually doing that though.

Glad to know how much the US cares about it's citizens being detained in another countries prison.

Gonna go to another country now and break some laws on purpose cuz I know Biden will rescue me anyway.

Don’t seem to be. There’s some videos and the dude looks as healthy as can be.
Definitely not covered in blisters or emaciated.

One Russian prisoner was accused of smuggling a small amount of illegal substance into the country. The other was accused of being a spy. These things are not equal. Apparently, Russia wants a spy in German custody released for Whelan and the US has no control over that.

    I will see myself out.

US should protect its citizens from themselves - whatever it is that can get your citizen in trouble upon crossing border of a foreign country that TSA sees in their baggage, someone should pull the passenger aside and have a prophylactic talk.
And if Griner does go onto TV talk shows, I hope she is apologetic for putting our nation into a disadvantageous situation.

So we get a WNBA bball player back instead of a U.S. Marine, and actually give up an arms dealer in the process?

Woah. Look, happy Griner is back home as anyone else but this was an extremely lopsided deal and not in favor of the good ol' USA.

Happy Brittney is home but that merchant of death will likely cause harm to thousands of individuals, including daughters, wives, friends and someone else's child via his arms dealiong. The value was nowhere near equivalent and we couldn't even get another human being that actually served and that has been under Russian detention for 4 years.

Man, regular Americans just don't get respect.
