Perhaps it’s more a general view that many of the Elon sycophants on this thread cried wolf in regards to “free speech”…. Which was always just a misrepresentation of free speech. But really all they ever cared about is owning the libs and Elon was the vehicle. Now that we see Elon isn’t the free speech messiah… they shift the narrative with memes and sarcastic tweets. It was also about punishing and stifling the other side for many of the Elon fans.
People can trash, mock, and question his decisions just like Rockets fans do with Ferntits. First Amendment, Right? If anything, social media like Twitter thrives on that engagement and shitposting discourse. Elon throwing gas into the fire is part of his free advertising budget. Ofc Elon can make the meanies stop by blocking or banning everyone. It's his ball...
It’s gone from “Elon is buying Twitter to save free speech” to “well it’s Elon’s platform and he can do what he wants”.
I think Elon will eventually get tired of being the main mod on twitter. It's tiring work and no matter what you do everyone hates you. Just ask the mods of any forum
"Listen, these dangerous ultra-MAGA birds are a serious threat to our nation, folks," President Biden said in brief remarks about the situation. "They must be dealt with and put in their rightful place, which is on my dinner table. End of speech. Walk away from podium." At publishing time, all requests made to interview the turkey had been denied. It was reported that the bird was placed in solitary confinement at an undisclosed location as it awaited its execution, brining, and deep-frying without due process.

I doubt it gets changed. These rules are quite generic, it's everywhere in any social media/websites. It's how it's going to be enforced
So does Elon stop trolleading on TWTR if TSLA drops another 20% by a month or does he step down as CEO of TSLA because the amount of lulz given is Priceless?
Talks of him stepping back have been circulating awhile now. He is stepping back in SpaceX. There is the camp who believes he has come unhinged and then there is the camp who believes he is pivoting to a new major project. To some, Twitter hasn't revolutionized the universe in three weeks so therefore clearly Musk isn't a demigod and Twitter is destined to fail. The truth lies somewhere in the middle
The question didn't focus on Twitter. SpaceX shareholders are starting to wise up on the dumping act that's been happening this whole year. Presumably that was where all his net worth is tied up. At some point, the neglected kid starts acting up and issue yet another recall.
This pretty much. Twitter is definitely less heavy handed than it was, but no one should pretend Musk letting people vote on who can and can't get accounts reinstated is free speech. Not reinstating Alex Jones because Musk's first baby died in his arms is and takes great offense at what Jones said about Sandy Hook is also not free speech.
Everyone has their opinion on free speech. Someone punching someone else in the face for talking like an ******* is violence. Talking like an ******* is not free speech. Its just being an *******. Most of us agree that expressing something in a civil manner is free speech. Its in the gray that lines get crossed.
I have no argument that it's all his to do as he likes, but it kind of undermines the narrative that he spent all that money because he was inspired to protect free speech in the public square.
