Their run differential says otherwise. Dodgers loosing says more about the variance and luck factor of baseball relative to other leagues like the NBA than the Dodgers "choking". In the NBA, an Astros and Dodgers level team would be the only two teams winning rings in their dominant eras. No other team would have really a chance. It would just be those two teams trading blows in the Finals. In baseball it's far less predictable.
Postgame press conference Dusty Baker with some deep thoughts about overcoming racism, the lack of African Americans in baseball and getting older.
Where are the folks that spent all season saying the Astros win "in spite" of Dusty? Did we win a ring "in spite" of Dusty too?? I always felt a lot of the Dusty hate to be rather...unsophisticated.
To a degree....yes. Game 1 was unforgivable letting Justin give up 5 to try and save a personal accomplishment for JV. And it was obvious to the whole world to everyone except Dusty that the Phil's had something on LMJ. But he let the game get completely away. Those are 2 enormously bad decisions. We're the Astros the superior team that ended up winning? Sure....could things of gone atrousciously bad if the pitching didn't come through? Yep. Lets not forget that Dusty did inherit this team.
Does anyone know if the Astros will be wearing the city connect uniforms next year the Space City ones those are some badass uniforms!!!
I just think it's silly that people that crapped on Baker cannot be man enough to say you were wrong. I did. It's easy.
I didn't think he could do it, but I was wrong. Glad I was wrong. said if he pulls this off, all is forgotten. He's the man! Job for life.
Thought this was a pretty interesting analysis on how relief pitchers generally have a good improvement under Dusty, but get worse once he leaves. https://deadspin.com/unsung-genius-dissecting-dusty-bakers-bullpen-brillian-1849768573
