Problem is the Astros showed that Correa’s perceived luxury value wasn’t as valuable to a winning team as previously thought. They replaced a Rolex with a Series 8 AppleWatch and got better value and reliability.

I have both and I would pick the Apple Watch over rolex any day.

I think Correa needs a new hype man.

Tyler Anderson leaves the $19.65 mil QO deal to sign for 3/$39 mil ($13 mil avg) with the Angels?

He must REALLY not like being a Dodger

Dude is 33 and was a below average pitcher until this season. Whoever offered him the most money was getting him.

The fact that 3/39 was the most he could get suggests everybody thinks he's likely to turn back into a pumpkin next season. He struck while the iron was hot.

I can see that... But if Anderson can't figure that he could make $10 mil a year after next season and bank on himself then I wouldn't want that player to begin with.

I wonder what the return is, doesn’t make much sense considering both are young teams entering their competitive window.

Anyone know if that would be the highest yearly average ever in Astros history? $43.3 million per season sounds like a lot.

    Yes and not even close.

I'm pretty sure JVs 2yr/$66M is the current record.

How about we pay him $40 mil in 2023 and have a clause that pays him $45 mil each in 2024 and 2025 ONLY if both Astros management and JV agree. ;)

btw, for context Jeff Bagwell made a grand total of $135,865,000 for his entire career

As mentioned, Verlander’s $66m over 2 is the Astros AAV record.

scherzer’s deal is the major league AAV record.

    Cuz that’s functionally only a guaranteed $40m….

Been mentioned several times in the forum but the mutual option you’re describing very rarely gets exercised by both sides. IMHO it’s kind of pointless.
