There was at least one ball called that hit the bottom middle of strike zone. Ump was not perfect

When he’s possibly the best hitter in question, why not? Can he not still sub with Maldy when we need to PH Maldy?

In the scenario that maldy gets hurt or needs to be subbed, then what? You’re literally out of options

Can you not sub Vazquez for Maldy in the chance you need to? I honestly don’t know the rule on that but just assumed you could do this if we needed to PH Maldy or if Maldy got hurt.

No you’re using him as a DH. That’s why you don’t burn your only catcher as a DH

He had another one earlier this year where the only pitch he missed was the 1st one of the game.

The box you see on TV is not the actual strike zone MLB uses for data/evaluation. Ump Scorecard uses the official MLB data.

Better eyesight and more importantly better selection criteria.

Most of the older umpires are basically like Supreme Court judges, and stay on forever. Meaning they got promoted to the majors before we had pitch tracking to better identify who was the best and who wasn't. Umpires nowadays are simply vetted better than the old heads.

Then Vazquez moves to catcher and you lose the DH for the rest of the game (pitcher would slot into Maldy's spot in the lineup)

I looked up the rule, pretty sure there’s nothing in the rule that states that. A DH can move into the field. If Maldy got hurt then we would move Vazquez to catcher and he would continue to bat in the same spot but would no longer be DH. Whoever subbed for Maldy would be the new “DH”. Unless I’m wildly misreading the rule, which is possible.

Yes, you are misreading it. If the DH moves to a defensive position, you no longer have a DH.

Pitcher or Mancini/Diaz? Have no idea who has a better shot at a hit.

Or maybe just get Hensley some at bats.

You lose the DH spot. That’s the point

The more the Astros see any pitcher (starter or bullpen), the more they dissect and pick up on tendencies.

Same applies for the Astros as well, however they just happened to have more depth and more quality pitchers.

The way I see it, we just need to win one series and win at least one game in each.

    Tie the home series
    Win the road series
Tie at worse the home seres

    Or
    Tie the home series
Win at least 1 game in Philly
    Win the home series

    We Got This!

    Clearly just needing the love:

    Altuve pre-hug: 4G (.000 BA/1 R/0 RBI)
    Altuve post-hug: 4G (.389 BA/3 R) and on a 4 game hitting streak

Umps Scorecard has a two inch leeway on each side, top and bottom of the plate. The TV zone is not necessarily the same as the Umpire Scorecard Zone. So there's plenty of fudge factor in these ratings. Still, even being consistent within those parameters is a good thing.

If a DH moves to a position on the field, the team loses the DH for the remainder of the game. With the limited number of position subs on the bench, it is very risky. I asked before who our emergency starter would be since we have replaced Maldy with Vasquez on a couple of occasions leaving us with no backup at all.

There's really a simple explanation why they never checked Framber's right hand... We told them not to.
