If you've watched basketball for a long time, you see players like KPJ all time. He's not a unique archetype. Here are the list of players that have similar playstyles

    Westbrook
    Steve Francis
    Marbury
    Iverson

I can keep going but you get the point. Point Guards that are score first and dominate the ball don't win championships, even if they are really talented at that.

Steph Curry has entered the chat

Seriously though was Tony Parker the last “pass first” PG to win a ring in 2014?

KPJ is in his 4th year. At this point focusing on lowering his usage rate and handling the ball less as a full-time PG does not make sense. I've compared him a lot to D'Angelo Russell because of similar play style. Russell was an all-star in his 4th year (not a perfect player by any means) and his usage rate and shot attempts increased steadily each year. He's probably playing his best basketball now in a lesser role, but in year 4 teams should take the reins off a bit.

Jalen and Sengun's usage rates are up dramatically over last year. Having Sengun come off the bench increases his opportunities, not limits them. CP3 started when he was here, but D'antoni staggered his and Harden's minutes to let CP3 run the 2nd unit by himself. Sengun's shot attempts, rebounding, efficiency are all up. His usage rate is nearly as high as KPJ's and Green's. He's being developed.

He got a tunnel vision he dont have a feel for game as a point guard he is a sg. Everyon who take so many shoots get easy 21 points and watch how many offenserebounds he got. He got almost only defense rebounds because he stand under the rim without contest. Kpj is a bench player not a starter caliber player only on rockets because rockets staff think hebis the next kobe thats the true

He hasn't really sacrificed much to be honest, if anything the entire team is sacrificing their game around KPJ.

He averages 78 touches per game, which has gone up from 72 touches last season. The gap between him and the 2nd highest player is larger this season (24 touch difference) than last season (15 touch difference). In addition, KPJ averages 5.4 seconds per touch, so not only does the ball go to him often, the ball is in his hands for much longer than anyone else.

He also isn't sacrificing his shots to take on a PG role. He averages 17 shots per game, only 2 fewer than Green, and has the 2nd highest shot attempts on the team. However, he only has a TS% of 53.3%, which is not only below league average, but he is well below other offensive creators like Sengun, Gordon and Green, all of whom score much more efficiently than KPJ.

So a lot of people's frustration, either with KPJ or with the coaching staff, is that the entire team is playing around KPJ and sacrificing their game to play around KPJ, even though there are clearly other prospects that are just as good, or even better to build around.

İt is a blasphemy to say AI and Starbury had similar style with kpj. If they played with a blindfold, they could sniff their teammates better than kpj could see while attacking the rim.

Typical Amarukan way of thinking is bigger faster with skill to match since sports are said to be played by the best athletes in the world its always a head start n plus to have that elite ability naturally

Which those Albion European players you mentioned have skill, especially the first two at supreme level which covers for lack of elite athleticism

Its comical how folks are always identifying people as a color crayon, Luka is Slovakian from said Europe and Jokic is I think Serbian (euro) American

Steph can hit the open man without turning the ball over he also is an off the ball pg. KPJ gets angry by half court if he doesnt have the ball. Also theres a big difference between not being pass first and being totally iso heavy.

agree 100% at worst he's a great trade chip and I mean great trade chip.

Any player who is making 20 mil and can put up 20/5/5 with 40% three point shooting at 22 has great upside and is a great trade chip. Like Murray with San Antonio going to the hawks.

I think kpj has a real shot to be a very good if not great starter and put up 20/7/7 on 45/40/80 shooting if he can add weight and get better at finishing around the hoop and also getting to the line. If he could just finish better and get to the line 6-7x a game he’d be a 25ppg scorer right now imo. He be 1st year harden.

With that said I don’t think he’s anywhere close to harden as a playmaker harden is truly one of the best playmakers/passers to ever play the game and prob the best passing SG or all time.

Judging by Silas rotations it seems that the Rockets are going all in on either Wemby or one of the combo guards. All the while plumping up KPj so they can trade him to a team that might think he's the answer (like what the Hawks did with Murray or Cavs with Mitchell). If this is the direction, then I can understand what's been going on. It's the only way any of this makes any sense.

There’s still probably enough teams who look at surface level stats and don’t care about actual impact that you might be able to get something for him if we happen to draft scoot

More so like Starbury who was the PG / scorer, AI for his Sixers stint after rookie yr was basically running off screens to shoot/attack, but both were better natural passers and had better feel for the game

KPJ will be fine once he comes to grip that he can get his shot anytime he wants so its better for the team to get others involved early and often and go iso mode if needed in second n fourth quarters

Or maybe the gm/coach want him to isolate heavy and be a KPJ centric offense which would no doubt put them in top tier lottery position since its only year two of a allout rebuild

If KPJ brain(on court) matched his natural talent he would be basically a supreme poor man 6'5'' version of AI

This has nothing to do with what I posted.

No one disagrees that the organization and the coaching staff are the key decision makers.
