ALCS has 5 straight games in Games 3-7 - that's interesting and new and changes some of the pitching dynamics. A 5th starter is actually useful.

This really benefits a team with pitching depth.

Does anyone else think that national baseball writers and ESPN are seething at the fact that the Astros are in first place in the AL?

Nah, the Dodgers are on pace to win 110+ games.
FWIW, the gematria boys think Vin Scully will be the sacrifice that gets the Dodgers over the top this year.

Really not looking forward to October if that’s the case, but I’ll put my money on it if they end up with exactly 107 wins.

Throughout the course of that playoffs, it went from somewhat planned when guys like Peacock were starting… to going by feel when LMJ was just rolling in game 7 ALCS… to downright necessary after Giles no longer was pitchable.

If you didn't know his stats, what made you think the Astros should pick him in the first place?

Maybe because he's a fast runner and said to be solid defensively? But he doesn't provide anything that Meyers or McCormick don't, and being older he has less upside. He's never hit well at any time, either, and he's been given a lot of time to figure it out. Pass.

I would not be opposed to signing Piscotty to a MiLB deal, and seeing if some time down there and/or a mechanical adjustment can "fix" him. Why not?

Andrus so our rivals don't pick him up since he hits relatively well against us
