I wouldn’t be opposed to them bringing up Brinson for a few weeks if Meyers needs another DL stint.

Sorry looked it up. First place I went didn’t have any 2022 stats. I honestly, have never heard him mentioned before.

If anything, they shouldn't have called up Leon to AAA so soon last year. His BA wasn't much better than it is now (.249), his K rate was 36%, and his OPS was lower than it is now (.802). He's probably not ready until the middle of next year as a result. Too much Correa panic on the FO's mind IMO. 3Ks last night, his confidence his probably shot right now. Hopefully he can get some winter ball time.

When was the game he missed that diving catch that he usually makes? It looked like his arm bothered him after that play.

Luis Baez hit his 5th home run of the year for the DSL Orange team today.

I will probably be following this DSL class more closely than any I can remember. Very excited to see Baez, Gomez, Gaston, and De Leon in the FCL next year.

Don't remember the specific games, but he's landed awkwardly a couple of times. I know the one you're talking about.

I think it was 07/17. Since then his OPS is .442.

Look for them to be very aggressive with Kenni Gomez if he starts out well. Has a very high understanding of hitting and excellent hand/eye coordination. His glove may lag behind in development. The power is still developing too.

Has supposedly reached out to coaches with the Astros for nutrition help and has asked about coming over to the states sooner. He is viewed as very ambitious.

I am surprised the top international signees don’t negotiate coming stateside prior to signing. I would imagine that promising to bring them to the US immediately would be a big draw getting them to sign.

I have some experience with this actually.

It really depends on the player and where they are from.

You or I may look at the Dominican Republic and view it as a dangerous place to be and not a place to want to stay. However a lot of the kids from the Dominican actually don't want to come state side early because they are treated like Gods in the DR and they also have lots of strong baseball opportunities and they have their families in the DR. We have seen a number of players and former players going back to the DR and being robbed, in legal trouble and injured in some cases.

However, Gomez is from Cuba and the dynamics are different there than the DR or even Venezuela. There seems to be a split with Cubans. There are some players that seem to have off the field issues like Chapman and Puig or have conditioning issues like Moncada or Darien Nunez. However, there also are a lot of very studious players that are very ambitious and driven. Yordan Alvarez and Yuli Gurriel are like that. Gomez appears to be more like Alvarez from a personality perspective.
