    Via Jonathan Givony:

The Rockets pick third in what many consider to be a three-player draft, making this a relatively easy choice on face value. (Jaden) Ivey’s candidacy is also under consideration here, as the idea of constructing arguably the most explosive backcourt in the NBA is said to be intriguing for Rockets brass.

Rumor is OKC might be interested in Jaden Ivey. IF THIS IS EVEN TRUE -- If they want him, they can easily let Sacramento leapfrog the Rockets and pick up an asset from the Kings, getting their guy in Ivey.

The Rockets are smart to put out there that Ivey is very much an option. Give OKC no security.

Let the games and hearsay begin!

I think Ivey is interesting and talented for sure. I’m still pretty bullish on KPJ especially after the showing he had to finish the year but if Ivey is the guy, so be it.

Going to be 3 weeks of mindgames. Orlando leaking that they want Jabari when it doesn't make sense. Rockets leaking that they want Ivey when it doesn't make sense. What's next? Sacramento leaking that they really like Dyson Daniels at 4?

I can tell you that Sacramento believes that it is possible that the Rockets are flirting with Ivey, and that was BEFORE anything was leaked.

Yeah, we're not taking him...that would be ridiculous considering what's already in place. I TRUST what Stone's doing though. We're dealing from a position of strength.

The Rockets having interest in Ivey isn't far fetched at all. Ivey has a very high upside on both sides of the floor. He also can guard shooting guards which would allow Green to guard point guards, which he was actually good at last year. The vast majority of players that can get around the corner in the same ball park that Ivey does become at least near all star level players because it gives them such a huge margin for error.

If the Rockets value 2 of the top 3 players in this draft, and believe that they will go #1 and #2.... then they may be able to trade back and get who they have #3 on their board and get additional assets.

I can’t imagine the Kings want Ivey over Smith or Chet. They are already flush with guards. If they are trading up it is for Jabari to play the 3.

So... this would likely mean KPJ is gone. Not really that upset at it to be honest. I wonder what trade package we could deal him in.

Interesting to see how everything plays out. Maybe Rockets want to establish a dominant backcourt and pair with a defensive big via trade or free agency? We may see a major shakeup in the roster with players like Sengun, Wood, Gordon gone. Someone mentioned Ayton in a sign and trade. He would command max money and we would have to ship out a lot to match contracts/or give them trade exception but maybe a possibility? Anything could happen. Very exciting.

I agree with you but for some reason they kept drafting guards after having Fox and Heild. They drafted Haliburton couple years ago then Mitchell last year. Not sure what they’re doing but maybe the trend continues? Maybe they’re looking to dump Fox?

    Disinformation or legit interest?

Rockets being smart either way if purposefully leaked.

It is all about trying to maximize the possible opportunities the draft and the trade market offer.

Stone wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't aggressive and trying to find ways to improve the value the Rockets get from the opportunity of having the #3 pick. Most likely the Rockets stay at #3 and take the player everyone expects them to, but there are no guarantees and there is a real possibility the Rockets trade up or down or extract additional assets.

I don't care about having the most explosive backcourt.

I care about having the highest IQ, most skilled backcourt.
