1) They have to draw 4 balls, the first three of which are meaningless to the viewer = slow, not exciting. 2) Teams have hundreds of combinations, so there isn’t a way for the viewer to follow like if they are holding a small handful of lotto tickets = not dramatic, viewers not invested. 3) Even flipping the order from 1-4 to 4-1 as you suggest, they are only drawing for the top four teams. Then you just list out 5-14 at the end…? That’s 2-3 minutes of programing to draw 16 ping pong balls, during 12 of which you have no idea what is going on = tough to package into a super exciting draft special.
Odds change in real time and aren't static once the lottery starts. If you're sitting there wondering how the conditionals play in, the 5th pick might be the main one
Trade discussions change within seconds. CWood also wants to leave this youth movement. The sad thing with CWood is that he has the "Dwight" syndrome. He so badly wants to be the man, or center of attention lol, that he has created the same locker room divide that Dwight caused during the end of his stint here. It became bad enough that a good mentor in DT started associating only with the younger movement because CWood treated Jalen, Tate, KPJ, etc, etc....like an AAU team. Allegedly, DT liked his role until Wood started demands on offense (Hi, Dwight). The Rockets had options to trade him, but after these playoffs, CWood and Ego will be in high demand. The Suns and Nuggets wanted Ego but weren't willing to give much. But, again, I would bet a John Stockton/Jeff Hornacek flop that CWood is all done here. That's what I've heard anyway. Then again, maybe people thought Stockton was really getting knocked down by Matt Maloney. (My age is showing) EGo has always stayed neutral and non-confrontational. I never understood why he didn't try to push his way out while he was healthy because he could have really helped so many teams this year. Even Philly wanted him but Morey was offering scraps and we all know how badly we lost when Morey left. Same with Mike D. Memory Lane....God bless him, but the only reason the Rockets finished the last Dwight season was because of Jason Terry. Trevor Ariza tried and knew that it was easier to shoot his shot and work with the entire locker room. Jet had an unpaid job of being the middle man between James and Dwight when they refused to speak but knew they had to look "together" on the court when Dwight made one of nine free throw attempts. James was given the keys to be a diva, but he deserved them with the work he put in. And, you know things are bad when Super Cool Beas is dropping 25 points whereas Dwight couldn't grab more than 4 rebounds in Denver (painful memory) The good news is that the Rockets are going to be a good team sooner than later, and with some better leadership (and perhaps a better coach), they will be one of the most athletic teams we've seen in awhile. Green and Big Al are the untouchables, with Tate being right there. KPJ is arguably the best player on the roster, but he needs time to mature psychologically more than anything. And sooner or later, we'll recover from John Wall's contract. I don't know who is willing to bite, but at least the clock is running out. Love ya'll Cod
I mean, at this point I'm expecting the worst with like the top 4 picks all going to OKC x 2, San Antonio and the Pelicans.
