rockets fans quit on harden, long before he quit on houston. their were "trade harden threads" and "ive grown to hate james frauden" threads on this site that were never locked lol. I bet yall learned yall lesson with that the next time you get a franchise changing player.. Treat that player with respect, because you'll never know how long theyll be there

The title drought was 17 yrs before Harden arrived
    It's now 27 and counting
The only HOU franchises he changed were those w champagne rooms

Dream remains the only franchise-changing icon for the Rockets
Harden is runner-up, but he's closer to other top-5 Rockets like Moses, Yao, Tmac than Dream

Hell, even Drex has done far more for Houston than Harden (admittedly mostly not in a Rox uni)

James is an aloof, narcissistic outsider who gave us some of the best individual OFF seasons in league history
His ability to generate OFF with the ball is as good as I've ever seen

Also major props for the toughness and durability
Unlike so many other divas of his generation, James never did load management, nor sit out whole seasons as negotiation leverage

If there were any aspects of his game we may not see again, I nominate those 2

    He is also:

    - a lazy, disengaged defender, right alongside Curry, Russ, Nash and Jokic as the worst defender to win MVP in the past 20 years

    - non-factor off the ball, or generally in ANY phase of the game without the ball in his hands (so that's where Wood learned it)

    - stubbornly uncoachable at times, undermining or just ignoring directions that hurt his numbers, team success be damned

    - a generally poor teammate prone to insecurity and pettiness, instigating multiple locker-room fractures (Parsons, Dwight, CP3, Russ) like a middle-school drama queen

    - kind of 2-faced narc, stabbing coaches and players in the back by going outside chain of command to Morey, resolving ego clashes by scapegoating anybody not all-in for Team Harden

    - WORST of ALL
He has that sac-shrinkage factor about as badly as anyone that talented not named McGrady
He is the anti-Astro, who all seem to collectively let em hang lowest when stakes are highest

No need to recount the elimination record and production, but even his biggest postseason 'triumphs' were largely more about others

Whether JSmoove taking over in G6, or CP3's hammy in G5, the highs and lows that determined series outcomes seemed to only involve Harden's MIA non-impact

The Spurs G6 no-show, with Kawhi hurt, is THE defining Harden Rockets game of his career for me

That was a franchise-changing moment presented on a silver platter, and he shat himself in the most embarrassing way possible - by running away from it, tail-tucked and hungover

He couldn't check his ego to make it work with any of his 3 HoF teammates, using his pull to run the last 2 out of town for daring to demand 2-way effort and accountability from our 'franchise changer'

I do agree in one regard -
The shameless media narrative reframing of his 'ugly, boring' ISO style game was beyond a joke

Suddenly playing in NYC, he's now lauded for adjusting his style to complement KD, Kyrie as a selfless, creative playmaker

    Anyways ...
Good news is we didn't have to wait long for that next star SG to appreciate

Green is already doing Harden things, and with a 4-yr headstart, he may bump James down that all-time Rockets list some day

He’s effectively gone. He’s been gone since 5 weeks ago. Unfortunately. Perhaps he realized that his GEMATRIA calculations were off and bailed early

Oh man I thought that guy was still around when I saw the threat pop up with his name. Defended Harden to the last drop of you know what. Even blame posters that they don't like Harden because they are racists. Harden should of hired him as a body guard.

I think we can confidently say the MVP level Harden we used to know is officially gone. He is now in a different stage in his career, Harden Volume Two if you will.
