It's the whole reason he signed the contract he did.

Best pitching coach in baseball. Turned one of the worst pitching staffs into one of the best

.217, 1HR, 7rbis. HUH? Pitching is why they are better, not Correa.

Agree that Correa does make the pitching staff look better. He's like a vacuum back there at short. We are all on the same page.

I got a Stros Correa Shirt to wear to next week's Stros at Twins. I'm curious to see if I get any boos.

Correa is on one of his hot streaks and the Twins are relevant. I will always cheer Correa except when he is playing us like I cheer for Springer, Keuchel, Morton, McHugh, etc. He is just getting what he is due. It hurts less that he left with Pena exceeding expectations.

Morton and McHugh are the only one I think we made a mistake on. Coincidentally, they both went to the Rays as their next stop. If Tampa signs your outgoing free agent, you probably made a mistake by letting them go because you know Tampa never overpays

He’s starting to heat up. Got his average from Maldonado territory back up to 250+ in the last week. Hadn’t really been driving the ball and then the last couple games he had a couple doubles and a HR. He is awesome. He will be just fine. Hitting in an open air stadium in the frozen north beyond the wall isn’t conducive to stats in April.

The bar for a career year is pretty low for a 34 year old with only 2 years of big league experience. His current ERA is 3.00 and his WHIP is 1.00 which isn't bad.

A lot of that is just positive regression. Several pundits favored them to win the AL central last year and they way under-performed and then sold off pieces when they were out of it.

Think Correa leads them in hits already too, which is scary considering how slow he started at the plate.

Yep and 3rd in total bases. His leadership isn't as necessary here since we have a team full of guys that have been there, done that, but for a team that doesn't know how to win, I think he is very necessary. He brings the swag.

    Nope!

J/K but this is what fans do, and it's a legitimate comparison to see if the team made the right call.

Got to maintain that good guy image at all cost.

He also has to get some leverage heading into the off season, I don't blame him, it's a good strategy.

Correa will not be the same defensive player this year that he was last year and it has nothing to do with his play....

He had a gold glove 1st baseman last year. This year he had Miguel Sano and whomever is filling in for Sano while he is on IL with a torn meniscus. Gurriel made it look easy when he would dig out a throw in the dirt or snatch them on a short hop. I saw Sano botch at least 1 that should have been caught and if the throw is in the dirt the SS will get the error in most cases.

Also, remember when Correa used to have those amazing relays from the outfield to gun people down at home? Well, now he has Gary Sanchez behind the plate who totally whiffed on a throw from Correa yesterday that should have been an out.

Sanchez finally has payback for Correa's walk-off from game 2 of the 2017 ALCS...

For a one year deal we could have gladly brought him back and gotten Peña 120 games as the backup to Carlos, DH and injury replacement/rest guy for the rest of the IF. If you can play short you can play anywhere.
It didn’t have to be either or on the short term deal but probably would have been on a long term deal. Either that or waste some of his value by playing him at 1B going forward.

Pena would have been this teams version of Marwin. Niko Goodrum wouldn't even be on the roster, let alone starting several games.

If Correa had signed a long-term deal, it would been easy to get over. Losing him to what should be a one year deal? Painful.
