Weird was just thinking about him and his music from the recent threads in the hangout -- was listening to everything from the Screaming Trees to Gutter Twins -- sad news.

i read that he had a really bad case of covid last year. couldnt walk for awhile.

his solo stuff could be such a downer, but in a beautiful and comforting way.

That's pretty much 5 of the 6 most popular "authentically grunge" frontmen not even making it to their 60s. Meanwhile the biggest frontmen from the 60s/70s Jagger, McCartney, Daltrey, Plant, Tyler etc. keep on ticking. Screaming Trees were definitely Tier 2 in terms of popularity, but still would be on any top 10 grunge bands list. He was also pretty great in Queens of the Stone Age.

Exactly. Hadn't thought of them in a long time until recently. Always thought them and Dinosaur Jr were terribly underrated.

Was also reminded of this movie, and wanted to watch it again, but zero of the 9 streaming services I have show it, unless you want to pay $3.99

Am I allowed to put QOTSA on my 90's Rock Playlist, or do I need approval from @KingCheetah?

Also, more rock bands need to utilize the slide guitar

I really, really wanted to mention them. I say go for it. It's a supergroup formed from 90's icons. 2002 is pretty close.

The studio version of this song is Josh Homme singing, but Mark sounds badass on this live version. RIP

Yeah, necrobump and all, but this came on the radio earlier today, and I'd forgotten he was on it. RIP Layne too.
