China's treatment of the Uyghurs isn't BS but a lot of the people speaking up about it in the US are. Many of them can't even find Xinjiang on a map and don't really give a single f*ck about the Uyghurs. Especially Trump supporters since the Uyghurs themselves are mostly Muslims. Using Uyghurs to criticize China just serves as a convenient way to attack China while avoiding allegations of racism. They can shield themselves by saying they are standing for the Uyghurs even when their criticism is really rooted from the hatred of the Chinese and not because they actually care about Uyghurs.

It is not total BS, there was a dark history beginning with smaller incidents in cities across the country. And there is a force in Europe and what not that call themselves "East Turkistan movement". But it is not as big as Ukraine vs Russia for example, some people want it to be though. China ain't Putin otherwise there would already be a war on Taiwan. It is all threats and little action.
The Uyghur case is not BS. It's a real genocide hellhole there. But that doesn't mean all who are "standing up for Uyghurs" are good guys. Politics is a dirty thing. The enemy of your enemy is not always your friend.
